VIDEO: Sled Investigating Colleton County fight with Sheriff's wife
Colleton County Sheriff George Malone has no comment Thursday after a public altercation between his wife and secretary.
Walterboro police responded to the 1300 block of Bells Hwy around 2:30pm Wednesday.
According to incident reports, Sheriff Malone and his secretary Vivian Lingard were both parked behind Arby's.
The Sheriff's wife, Pamela Malone, says she saw the two parked there as she was driving down the street, so she pulled into the parking lot.
Each woman gave different versions of what happened next in statements to police.
According to Lingard, Sheriff Malone got out of his car and got into a verbal altercation with his wife.
She says the Sheriff got back into his car to leave and Pamela Malone came after her.
She says Mrs. Malone tried attacking her through her open driver's window.
Lingard says her vehicle was moving but Malone wouldn't let go of the door and kept trying to hit her, saying she was going to "take her down."
According to Pamela Malone's statement, after exchanging words with her husband, she reached into Lingard's vehicle and the woman rolled up her window on Malone's hands.
In both statements, Lingard's vehicle left Arby's with Pamela Malone attached and didn't stop until pulling into another business.
Malone suffered an injury to her left leg and responders transported her by helicopter to MUSC Hospital.
Pamela Malone was later released and Lingard was not hurt.
Walterboro police have not filed any charges as of Thursday and are turning over the investigation to SLED.
