Apparently not.

And solidarity seems especially strong in Japan itself. Perhaps even more impressive than Japan’s technological power is its social strength, with supermarkets cutting prices and vending machine owners giving out free drinks as people work together to survive. Most noticeably of all, there has been no looting, and I’m not the only one curious about this.

More at The Telegraph

I'm not that curious. I've never been to Japan, I don't know anything about it beyond they make my Playstation 3 work, and looking at it go you'd think a nuclear reactor powers it, so I have high hopes that they'll fix their power plant reactors because they've got enough experience with that stuff.

I also have high hopes because I live on the west coast, and I don't want any of the fallout coming here, but I digress... GOT KAMIKAZE?

I'm not curious because I do know that culture is full of VERY hard workers. People who work hard for what they own have pride in it, and respect for what's not theirs. More than this they have pride in themselves....A LOT of pride...sometimes it's a little too much pride.

In other words, I'm willing to bet Japanese culture doesn't suffer welfare queens gladly.

Also, they read from right to left...so maybe WE really are the backwards culture

I don't know, I could be wrong. Whatever the case may be people all over the world, especially in places like Greece, should take note of what dignitiy looks like.

What does Greece have to do with it? There is no looting because the area hit is a small town AND the Japanese practice socialism so that they can limit poverty and the crime and chaos poverty creates.

I think maybe his point is since the Greeks acted just like the teachers in Wisconsin they have no dignity, or integrity for that matter....

Maybe one "Socialist" (as you put it) society can teach another "Socialist" society a few lessons in things such as Pride, Integrity, Honesty, Dignity, Responsibility, etc, etc, etc. I know its not a big thing to most idiotic socialists, (or Democrats) but it sure looks like it means something to the Japanese!!!!

By protesting? Why do you so called right wing ding bats hate protests? Sons Of Liberty dressed as Indians and looted a British vessel of its tea.

They had "no dignity, or integrity" either?

The Greeks were protesting about their "freebies" being cut, hence trying to ensure that eventually they and their children would be royally screwed when their government went bankrupt...being selfish..... It's all about me, not my children)!!!!

The teachers protesting to keep their "freebies", hence trying to ensure they would loose their jobs when the government went bankrupt. This accomplishes what for their children?????? being selfish..... (It's all about me, not my children or others children)!!!!

The Tea party was a protest about personal "freedom", hence trying to ensure that they, their children and everbody else in the country would have the opportunity to have a good life. not being selfish...... (its about everybody not just me)!!!!

So how does "not" being "morally corrupt" equate to having no integrity or dignity??????

I guess some people have no problems whatsoever about being a moral POS!!!! Isn't that called Liberalism!!!!!

What does Greece have to do with a 9.0 Japanese earthquake????? Also, Japan has an extensive and expensive social welfare culture and they are more in debt than Greece is per GDP. The author - a right wing kook it seems - is trying to make that the Japanese are Tea PArty Republicans or something. Try taking away a Japanese social program and see what happens in Japan. Ever see a Japanese riot? I have. Not as scary as Koreans rioters but pretty scary.

The article was pointing out how the Japanese value higher moral standards than the Greeks..... nothing more nothing less...... read between the lines if you must.

The Japanese value and respect their elders because of the wisdom they provide, and do what they can to take care of them as such. They are not "disposable" there as they seem to be here (hence ObamaCare). So if they like a welfare system that helps the elders then so be it, it's their culture not mine......

So what was the riot about????? Making sure the Liberals left town?????

It's a stupid analogy. I doubt the blogger can find either nation on a map.

PS: I am pretty sure Greeks value their elders too and both are low crime nations but one has 10 million the other is at 100 million and an industrial giant. One is European the other is Asian. What idiot would compare the two?

Maybe, maybe not it's all about perception..... I would just imagine he would think the same thing about your opinions of the teachers unions.....

The teacher's union protest was praised by the police for their civility and good behavior and they cleaned up after themselves - no looting and no destruction of property. So why bring them up in a discussion of looting?

Low moral behavior...... like the Greeks.......

So why do pictures of the capital show a different story, estimated at $7 million in damages. No looting but low moral behavior!!!!!!
