(Reuters) - A quake-hit Japanese nuclear plant reeling from an explosion at one of its reactors has also lost its emergency cooling system at another reactor, Japan's nuclear power safety agency said on Sunday.

The emergency cooling system is no longer functioning at the No.3 reactor at Tokyo Electric Power Co's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power facility, requiring the facility to urgently secure a means to supply water to the reactor, an official of the Japan Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency told a news conference.

On Saturday, an explosion blew off the roof and upper walls of the building housing the facility's No. 1 reactor, stirring alarm over a possible major radiation release, although the government later said the explosion had not affected the reactor's core vessel and that only a small amount of radiation had been released.

The nuclear safety agency official said there was a possibility that at least nine individuals had been exposed to radiation, according to information gathered from municipal governments and other sources.

Poster Comment:

Presumably they need FRESH water? They're already pumping sea water into the #1 reactor.

IMO, they should scrap the whole nuke plant and build a coal fired one, about a mile down the power line. Might as well pump salt water into the thing, since the site's going to be too hot to handle anyway.

from what i've read today salt water is the last resort since it will corrode everything inside.

Boron Sand Boron Sand Boron Sand

Destroy the chemical reaction. Encase in Glass.

Repeat until the various multiple Sarcophagus get built.

Latest design should then be taken to Chernobyl. They need theirs replaced.

Repeat for about 1000 years.

I'm sorry that MD is the thread I'm responding to

Just a note due to empathy of MD:

That said, the PTB are lying. See the Battle of chernobyl/BBC for details. The presence of Iodine and Cesium are the Tells of Meltdown.

There's no way to proudce them w/o.

"The wind over the plant would continue blowing from the south, which could affect residents north of the facility, an official at Japan's Meteorological Agency said.

The disaster prompted an angry response from an anti-nuclear energy NGO in Japan which said it should have been foreseen.

"A nuclear disaster which the promoters of nuclear power in Japan said wouldn't happen is in progress," the Citizens' Nuclear Information Center said. "It is occurring as a result of an earthquake that they said would not happen."

Caesium radioisotopes Further information: Fission products

Immediately after the disaster, the main health concern involved radioactive iodine, with a half-life of eight days. Today, there is concern about contamination of the soil with strontium-90 and caesium-137, which have half-lives of about 30 years. The highest levels of caesium-137 are found in the surface layers of the soil where they are absorbed by plants, insects and mushrooms, entering the local food supply. Some scientists fear that radioactivity will affect the local population for the next several generations. Note that caesium is not mobile in most soils because it binds to the clay minerals.[12][13][14] Recent tests (ca. 1997) have shown that caesium-137 levels in trees of the area are continuing to rise. There is some evidence that contamination is migrating into underground aquifers and closed bodies of water such as lakes and ponds (2001, Germenchuk). The main source of elimination is predicted to be natural decay of caesium-137 to stable barium-137, since runoff by rain and groundwater has been demonstrated to be negligible."

Assume all 5 are going to go.

From Stratfor:

Japan’s Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) said March 12 that the explosion at the Fukushima Daiichi No. 1 nuclear plant could only have been caused by a meltdown of the reactor core, Japanese daily Nikkei reported.

And that you're being lied to.

It's taken 20 years to get info on Chernobyl.

France at the time said the radiation stopped at Italy's border.

There's a reason they call it a reaction.

And it doesn't just get tired and stop.

AAMOF, it feeds on itself, which is the power of nukes.

"some nuclear fuel had melted"

Which makes that a lie. It's all or nothing. The only way it stays 'some' is that the other is blown away.

Est of Chernobyl by those who went in:

5% of radioactive material was left after the explosion. So that bow wave you see right before the dust cloud, is 95% being blown into the atmosphere.
