WASHINGTON — Newt Gingrich says his passion for his country contributed to his marital infidelity. In an interview posted Wednesday by The Christian Broadcasting Network, Gingrich — who recently converted to Catholicism — said he had sought God's forgiveness for mistakes in his past. "There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate," Gingrich said.

Sounds like he's going after the big city northern and mid-western votes. I do find his "humping for Hey-Zeus" explanation a little strange,though.

While Gingrich is a slimey guy I am pretty sure he converted to Catholic because his current wife is Catholic.

I know people do that,but I don't get it. His wife is also a female,but I don't see him getting the surgery to become a female himself.

At least one of them wanted a Catholic wedding, and I somehow doubt it was Newt. I recall a re-run of MASH I saw where this uber right winger named Colonel Flagg... I also don't understand why anybody would want that. Why is having a sadistic fairy in a dress perform the ceremony that important ? Rhetorical question. Even if you explain it I won't be able to understand it.
