Opinions/Editorials Title: Big & Rich or Dumb & Dumber? Warner Brothers Nashville is making an all-out assault on any remaining dignity and maturity associated with today57;s country music. Not satisfied with being the home of Faith Hill, a past country star who has abandoned the genre, John Michael Montgomery, a man in the midst of trying desperately to revive a failed career, and Blake Shelton, a newbie failure who hasn57;t recorded a decent song in two albums of duds, WB is dumping Big & Rich on us now. And, very obviously, WB is bankrolling these two jackasses with a whole lot of cash to buy huge media exposure and lots of spins on Clear Channel and Infinity-owned radio stations. Nothing else can explain how these clowns have managed to make it even as far as they have. Dumb & Dumber are entirely a creation of their label. They are living, breathing cartoons who, unfortunately, aren57;t as bright or mature as Fred & Barney or Mickey and Donald. In an attempt to cash in on the 60;outlaw61; movement of past decades, these clowns have created something they call the 60;muzik mafia61; and claim to make 60;country music without prejudice.61; I suspect that if ol57; Waylon were with us today, he would be kicking a couple of butts all the way back to the obscurity that they deserve. Outlaws? These two idiots come across more like two junior high school nerds pretending to be tough in hopes that the really tough guys won57;t stuff them into their own lockers. They are patronizing, at best, and destructive, at worst. They offer much the same to their audience that radio 60;shock jocks61; offer: childish sex jokes, cheap bathroom humor, fake, outlandish personalities, and little else. They pose for pictures while wearing dresses, write about 60;pissing61; on the Opry stage, employ a supposed rapper to 60;sing61; with them, and generally make idiots of themselves on stage while performing a parody of real music. Fortunately, they will most likely have a relatively short shelf-life because they have most often received either an underwhelming response from the audience or one of complete ridicule from all exposed to their trash. Interestingly, they are going to be opening for another clown of country music, Tim McGraw, on McGraw57;s 60;Out Loud61; summer tour. We57;ve known for a long time that McGraw has lost his way when it comes to recording or singing a country song. Now we know that it57;s more serious than that. McGraw no longer even intends to pretend that he cares about country music. He57;s hoping that the freak show, known as Big & Rich, will bring a few males to his concert audience since he no longer has any male fans of his own. You57;ve just sold what little dignity you had left, Tim. Congratulations. Warner Brothers Nashville can57;t be long for this industry if this is all they have to offer to country music fans. Those in charge of WB Nashville are rushing to put the label out of its misery by focusing so much of the budget on jackasses like Big & Rich. When these two fall flat on their collective butts, they will take down WB Nashville with them. Couldn57;t happen to a more deserving bunch of clowns.
