Beware the danger of the late-night Twitter session, especially those tweets that seem like pearls of wisdom after a long dinner or a night out.
Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has learned his lesson the hard way, starting a media storm after comments he made about potential presidential hopeful Sarah Palin.

According to a Des Moines Register poll, Mrs Palin has plummeted from a sturdy 71 per cent popularity 15 months ago to 65 per cent now.
Carlson cheekily tweeted: 'Palin's popularity falling in Iowa, but maintains lead to become supreme commander of MILFistan.'
He created the fictional country, using a popular internet acronym MILF - leeringly applied to attractive mothers.
But politicians and other political commentators immediately declared war on MILFistan and Carlson, branding the 41-year-old a sexist.
Carlson quickly deleted his tweet but the damage had been done, or at least too many people had seen it.
He quickly posted another tweet in a bid to make light of the growing controversy, saying: 'Apparently Charlie Sheen got control of my Twitter account last night while I was at dinner. Apologies for his behaviour.'
But it did nothing to stop his critics going on the warpath.
Stacy Drake, of Conservatives4Palin, told the New York Daily News: 'Unfortunately for him, many people had already seen it and responded. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.
'Is this the sort of treatment that conservative women, who want to get involved in the process, are expected to put up with? Is it okay for male columnists (conservative or otherwise) to continue objectifying women in the world of politics? No, it's not!'
In a fiery (if misspelt) response, Conservative Michelle Malkin tweeted: 'Ok, what's this about MILFistan? Keep it in the locker room, boys. Conserv women get enuf crap from lib pantywaists. Beltway boys (u ALL know who u are) should watch their mouths.'
Clearly Carlson's jovial apology was not enough, as he later tweeted the more serious: 'I'm sorry for last night's tweet. I meant absolutely no offense. Not the first dumb thing I've said. Hopefully the last.'
Unbelievably, Mrs Palin herself has not yet used her most favourite form of communication to respond to Mr Carlson's remarks - suggesting she is not as upset as some of her colleagues.
Nor did the tweet offend the sensibilities of everyone.
Conservative blogger Erick Erickson tweeted: 'Maybe my sense of humour needs to be recalibrated, but when I heard Tucker Carlson's MILFistan comment, I laughed then got out my passport.'
The political pundit, and editor of The Daily Caller, decided to get online last night and put his two cents in regarding Mrs Palin's recent fall from favour.
