Title: Sarah Palin Looks Smart Now -- Obama Looks Like an Asshole

With the price of gas skyrocketing and turmoil in the Middle East (again), former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's calls for energy independence and to "drill, baby, drill" right here in our own country during the 2008 presidential campaign are sounding prophetic.

As President Obama restricts drilling efforts in our own country and increases our dependence on foreign energy sources, and gas prices rise to the point they may once again cripple our economy, it's becoming clear we need a different type of leadership in the White House.

Governor Palin alone among the potential presidential candidates in 2012 has the experience (as commissioner of the Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission) and, more importantly, the will, to see us become energy independent and no longer rely on foreign sources of energy to fuel our economy. She has stated we have the best environmental and safety regulations in the world, and of course she wants to protect the environment, so who better than us to drill for our much needed and plentiful energy products?

Governor Palin says we need an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence. We should not be restricting drilling, but encouraging every possible development of our natural and reusable energy sources, including oil, gas, coal, nuclear and wind, so that we are no longer at the mercy of regimes who may not even like us.

That's the only way we can break our dependence on foreign oil!

Gas prices would go up regardless since the price of oil is based on a global commodities futures market and increasing American supplies would do nothing to offset this. Libya's oil is not sold to the USA for example.

It just shows that so called conservatives who are supposed to understand how the market works don't have a clue and are ignorant.

So what would happen to speculation if the Kenyan Administration came out today in favor of unprecedented support for major drilling expeditions?

hmmm?

Nothing because the price of oil from the seas is fucking expensive to get at and would not make a drop in world demand.

Bullshit.

If it was too fucking expensive, oil companies wouldn't have all manner of rigs there now.

And that speaks nothing of how it would affect speculation and prices.

Having oil be expensive is the only way to pay for offshore oil drilling, nimrod.

There were rigs there when oil was 20 bucks a barrel 15 years ago idiot. They didn't just start building in the last 5 years.

You do know that the current high prices have nothing to do with supply, don't you?

Since that's the case, drilling for more won't affect the price at all. The price will be the maximum the market accepts.

Do you also think that gold mined here would sell for less than the current world market value?

He probably "thinks" that if Sarah were still governor of Alaska, she'd make sure that oil found there sold for $40 per barrel to Alaskans.

What no functioning brain seems to want is a Hugo Chavez type dictator who will artificially support lower oil prices for his country by force.
