Unions didn't just spontaneously spring up. They are a response to abuse.
It isn't surprising that those who don't like regulation (no laws to break, no one goes to jail) don't like unions.

Oh they really do like regulation, but they only want the kind that benefits them and generally runs the smaller, pesky, fish out of town. Otherwise you wouldn't have all these lobbyists on forums trying to massage public opinion.

A friend wanted to start a tour bus business in Reno. The three big guys in town promised to keep him tied up in lawsuits if he tried even though his proposed routes did not directly compete with theirs.
They had their corporate lawyers and he had a limited amount of money he was willing to spend on creating his business, not on defending himself in court.
