A senior Iranian commander says Israel is facing increasing pressure as a wave of Islamic awakening against Western-backed dictatorships surges through the Middle East.
“Islamic awakening has been underway for years,” said Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, commander of Iran's Basij (volunteer mobilization) Force.
He described Iran's Islamic Revolution in 1979 as the flash point of this trend, Mehr News Agency reported on Thursday.
Naqdi said the movement has, however, been set back in some countries due to the oppression and the stifling atmosphere imposed by their dictatorial rulers, who resorted to “murder, torture and expelling popular leaders.”
The commander noted that the movement is no longer smothered by the tyrannical powers and that the Western-backed autocrats have lost control.
“Muslim leaders in exile are returning to their countries and great popular movements are shaping in Muslim nations,” the general added.
Referring to the pro-democracy revolutions in Egypt and Jordan, Naqdi said Israel is losing its “last footholds” among Arab countries and the noose of the siege around Israel by alert nations is being tightened.
“The Zionists [Israelis] have to pack up part and parcel and return to the countries where they originally came from...because when the siege is further tightened, what remains of them will be dumped into the sea,” he added.
“This revolution will continue until full victory and the downfall of the US and Israel and [until] Basiji and revolutionary spirits are dominant in the world,” he concluded.
