Socialism (and Communism) is the government taking from one person and giving it to another.

Alaska is merely taking revenues derived from people owned resources and distributing it back to the people with the government having no say in who gets what; it's distributed equally without regard to so called "need."

The oil is not State owned. It is people owned. They are simply giving the residents back the money that the oil companies paid to drill on their lands. Being a resident means they own a piece of that land so if money is made off of it they should have a right to it.

I know you fucking moron socialists who think everything is State owned won't get this, but screw you anyway.

Owning stock is part of my entire portfolio. Like everything else, it is an investment consideration but the real win in stocks is to buy low and sell high. I have seen my total investment package rise in tremendous value because of market speculation over the past year.

But you are absolutely correct; these corporations treat us like scum; BTW, the cash value of stocks can be taken to the bank by the corporate owners for further capatailzation for man, machine and other resources (like purchasing another corporation) and if the corporation goes bad; the stockholder loses. If the corporation does well, the stockholder receives a peanut for being an annoyance.

Owning stock is part of my entire portfolio.

You're braver than I am. I guess if you're buying and selling, you're not at that much risk. But the days of long term investing in the stock market are gone for me. I just refuse to allow my money to be taken.

I have good friends and coworkers who recently lost 40% of their retirement. I'd go ballistic if I 'lost' 40%. I'm winding down, I don't want any risk.

Rattberg is too stupid to understand why stockholders are also called "shareholders" and that their shares can be declared worthless while the corporation continues.

Thank you.

But back to your original point, very few people go into stocks for direct earnings/share value; few companies are viable enough for predictability with the idea of dividends. Corporations treat common stockholders as though they less than animals; we are to be beaten at every corporate board meeting along with the rank and file employees.

#22. To: We The People, no gnu taxes, ALL you libTARD wannabe cheechakos (#15) (Edited)

But we were talking about resources.

Yes we are.

The structure of the Alaskan people owning ALL natural resources in common is in the Alaskan Constitution ratified and signed in 1959.

This Constitution had been approved by the Congress before ratification.

This was done because of the hardship of living Alaska, and how difficult it is to get any MONEY in Alaska. It was really done to fund state gooberment.

The Congress didn't have a problem with doing this because up to then there had been no real BIG money coming out of Alaskan resource exploitation. Many it had been locatable metal, copper and fish and lumber.

When OIL was found at Funny River in the early sixties and then all over the damned state, the feds got suddenly concerned about the split of the take. OIL meant MEGA BUCKS for somebody.

So Uncle Ted Stevens and his wacky bunch of feral whores allowed Congress to lower the percentages of the split from 90% to 10% on all OIL.

To this day, unless you hold a locatable feral claim OR the Alaska state equivalent, you have NO MINERAL RIGHTS FOR ANY LAND THAT YOU SUPPOSEDLY "OWN".

We can't even legally use GRAVEL from our own land on our own land.

The state tells us that it's an even trade.

The Alaskan people get a PART of a percentage of a five year average of the interest on the body of the fund containing the OIL split, AND THE STATE GETS ALL ALASKAN MINERAL RIGHTS.

I don't like it, and alot of us don't like it.

We tried to stop getting that little sliver of the fund and to restore our INDIVIDUAL MINERAL RIGHTS by "cashing out" BUT the feral gooberment would have taken like 80% of it.

So any way that we go Alaskans are kinda fucked.

This is how it is.

If you want to call it "socialism" have at it I really don't care what you ignorant wannabe cheechakos F ing say or "think". This isn't the lower 48. EVERYTHING is HARDER and MORE EXPENSIVE and LESS CHOICE and EXTREME in Alaska.

This works for Alaska.

All you have to do is live here one year, and plan on living here from then on, to get your share.

Come on up and try it wannabe cheechakos. (Btw the more Alaskans the less the specific PFD).

See if the PFD is worth living here for.

Do ANY of you wannabe cheechakos know what "FEDERALISM" means?

Do any of you wannabe cheechakos understand why it's called the "FEDERAL" Gooberment?

Why do you hate the founders?

Why do you hate LIBERTY?

Do you wannabe cheechakos really think that what works where ever you live, works everywhere else in the UNITED STATES of AMERICA?

Do you wannabe cheechakos think that you ought to live the way New York tells you to live?

It's the UNITED STATES of AMERICA, NOT the SAME STATES of AMERICA you wannabe cheechakos.

Of course none of this means anything to these mental midget libTURD herd dwellers. They are just snot nosed infantile word parsing agenda driven idiots, totally unconcerned with the objective truth about ANYTHING.

Since by it's very definition government is a socialist entity, I didn't realize that Alaska had incorporated. It has now has the best of both worlds: the ability to redistribute wealth (dividends) to it's citizens (shareholders) and the power to put it's own 'shareholders' in jail.

It's exactly what I said dumbass. I am not even getting into what corporate manipulations occur.

Who the fuck is Rattberg, anyway?

Now, I know I’m not going to change the minds of any of the True Believers…those who read all of Reverend Al’s sermons, and say things like, “You know, global warming can mean warmer OR colder, wetter OR drier, cloudier OR sunnier, windier OR calmer, …”. Can I get an ‘amen’??

IN the late 60's, Alaska had to amend its constitution to create a "Permafund" into which the 25% [I think] royalty fees get deposited.

When the original pipeline deal was struck in 68, some in bed with Big Oil asshole found a loophole that ended up punting almost all of the ~1bln "royalty" that the "people" were supposed to get up front back to the oil companies.

Just like on LP, you'll spin your wheels till the very end.

Drilling rigs, wellheads, hoists, lifts, compressors, pumps, pipe-handling equipment, transport equipment, computers, software, etc.

And none of that has any bearing on whether or not stockholders in a corporation own the resources that the corporation uses to manufacture products.

You can wish it were so, but that won't make it so.

You can rationalize it any way you'd like to, but that won't make it true.

Maybe you can get Goldi to register here, to help you through these hard times too?

Even the actual socialists claim Sarah as one of their own:

----

The argument of Obama’s ideology may rage on, but at least one socialist says another prominent politician ought to be inserted into the debate.

Frank Llewllyn, the national director of the Democratic Socialists of America, says he was struck by one player in the 2008 presidential elections who displayed more socialistic leanings than Obama.

If you want to learn something about spreading the wealth, Llewellyn says, don’t look to Obama.

This candidate raised taxes on the big oil companies, and sent the revenue to the people.

“To be honest, the most socialist candidate in the 2008 election was Sarah Palin.”

Since January 3, 2011, Republicans have controlled the power of the purse.
