Title: Glenn Beck vs. Google: Pundit doesn't trust search engine, suggests his fans may want to avoid it

Unlike billions of worldwide users, Glenn Beck doesn't trust Google. And he plans on doing something about it.

The conservative Fox News pundit announced on his show Wednesday that he will avoid using any Google products, and implored his viewers to follow suit.

Beck spent a good portion of his program outlining why Google's business ties should make people think twice about using the world's most popular search engine – and it's many other products.

"I'm just not sure, as I look into Google, that I want to use their products anymore unless I have to," Beck said. "And some of their products I think I have to. I'm not leading any boycott. I hate boycotts. You do with your time, your money, and your information what you want. For me, personally, I'm not feeling real comfortable about the current direction of Google the more I find out."

Beck has been very critical of Google in recent weeks, mostly stemming from the praise company executives have heaped on one of their employees, Wael Ghonim. The head of Middle East marketing for the technology giant, Ghonim played a big role in helping organize the Egyptian Revolution and the eventual ouster of President Hosni Mubarak by setting up protests through social networking sites.

Stone, you really need to add a "right wing whackjobs" topic.

Since January 3, 2011, Republicans have controlled the power of the purse.

I can't comprehend the concept. Myself being a right winger it doesn't make sense.

How about something like "Left Wingers Think This Is Nuts"

This is not news to me - the right wing kooks on Freerepublic and other forums have this paranoid feeling about Google - like Google is their enemy.

Look on Freerepublic where they get upset that sometimes Google's icon is not a flag decoration on flag day or something.

They were even pushing some Google alternative that had been out called "Cuil" but that folded. So this demonization of Google by the right wing is not new.

I don't get why they demonize Google - a really awesome creation - and praise other companies like Walmart.

I use google. I think it has subliminal messages in it. Because if I use other search engines something just doesn't seem right. Bing being the exception.

All the info they store about their users is kind of Orwellian too.

I'm just being silly. But it is true when I use other search engines I don't feel comfortable. I can't explain it.

Don't know what happened, but when I hit post reply, a big part of my post didn't show up...lol

I do not trust Google either, haven't for several years.

As for Glenn Beck, I think his antics has cost him a lot of credibility and followers, myself included, but I also believe the information you get from Google is very limited, your search findings controlled, and although they have great images, I haven't used it for years.

What some don't realize is, cyber space is awsome, Google and the few search engines most use now, account for only about 10% of what is out there, there is 90% not being used, or used by a few, not to mention invisible websites that lead you to even more hidden information we didn't even knew existe. jmho~
