To: Murron (#2) (Edited) I don't think the Iranians would concur with your metaphor, but the dog aspect of it they would like, as in their culture, being referred to as a 'dog' is a low insult. Overall though, I would say brinkmanship like this is dangerous and will send oil prices up as an unwelcome side effect. I just hope people keep a cool head on this one. This particular frigate is not exactly a cutting edge warship. The ships are a MK-5 frigate and a supply vessel. They are said by Iran to be full of cadets going to train in the Red Sea area to train to defend "the country's cargo ships and oil tankers" against the threat of Somali pirates. The Suez Canal is only closed if there is an active war, and there is no legal standing to deny these ships passage. Thus probably in Israel's best interest not to strike out at it while it is vulnerable during passage, or even on it's final leg to Syria.
