Pills Limbaugh won't be happy. I heard him yesterday stating that Mubarak needed to stay, at least in the near term, for stability.

Did he say how Mubarak should enforce that stability?

If that many people went to DC and demanded Obama resign. Do you think he should if that happened?

Not sure. I only catch a few minutes a day of him on my drive home from lunch.

Egypt has a smaller population than the US.

If there was the wide spread support across the spectrum of American population for Obama's resignation that there is for Mubarak's, then I don't see he would have many choices.

The Egyptian people seem pretty determined. Just wondering how many of them Rush thinks should be jailed, tortured, and killed to achieve stability.

Perhaps he thinks we should send in troops?

I think if Mubarak could see a way to stay he would.

It is in the worlds interest that another fanatic like the ones in Iran don't take over. Otherwise we might have to give them a spankin someday.

I hope that the peoples legitimate grievances are answered and that muslim fanatics don't take over.

"It is in the worlds interest that another fanatic like the ones in Iran don't take over. Otherwise we might have to give them a spankin someday."

There is very little chance of that in Egypt wherein most of the population is "westernized" (and has been for the last several centuries). secular and are not enamored with any radical cleric.

The Shah's regime had banned all political parties in this country for a long time.'

Egypt has many opposition parties that win seats in the legislature and there have been votes - rigged as they were. The legislature had limited powers under Mubarak's regime but it functioned.

So the revolt in Egypt does not resemble the revolt in Iran at this point mostly because Sunni Egypt is not like Shi'ia Iran in terms of religion or banned parties.

With that said, all revolutions can go bad. Washington was offered the title of president for life in the USA - imagine what we would look like as a nation if he was a lesser man and took the offer?

They have made an effort to make this a secular movement and be inclusive.

(that sounds leftist, doesn't it)
