You have no constitutional right to be rich, but you have the opportunity.

What is it that makes the United States of America special?

He's a socialist.

Which means if he's not willing to WORK for his own money... He'll have the government take YOURS, and give it to him.

After all, it's not "fair" that you make more money than he does... even though he hasn't the marketable skills, work ethic and luck, to make more money than you.

That is the lie. This unequal wealth distribution on par with 3rd world nations shows that the opportunity for advancement for 99% of the population is not happening. Two conclusions can be reached from this. Either 99% of the American people are stupid/lazy which is the Republican position stated often - but I consider it a position akin to anti-Americanism.

The other more likely conclusion is that the system is rigged.

Socialist Fiinland is the most productive nation on earth. Must be all those healthy people going to work thanks to universal health care.

And if you had your way, according to many of your own posts, you'd rape me of my savings. You'd like to rape every other productive American citizen of their savings to pay for the unproductive.

What makes you think that you're entitled to my money?

What makes you different from those Enron thieves?

Well, that's not going to work for him either.

Not even .gov can get to my savings.

Guess he'll just have to get a job.

What makes you think that you're entitled to my money?

It's all about perceived need.

If his perception is that he needs something you have more than YOU need it, then he'll steal it.

If his perception is that he needs something you have more than YOU need it, and he can't steal it, he'll assemble a "Political Action Committee" to lobby the government to steal it from you, and give it to him...

If his perception is that you have more than HE thinks you need, he'll assemble a "Political Action Committee" to lobby the government to steal it from you, and give it to anyone HE judges to be more "in need" than you... And then, after he's taken a cut for himself, he'll give the "needy" whatever scraps are necessary, to soothe his moral pangs...

If his perception is that you have more than HE thinks you need, he'll assemble a "Political Action Committee" to lobby the government to steal it from you, and then give himself a fat pay raise, becuase dammit, he worked HARD on stopping you from having so much......

If his perception is that you're already a rich elitist snob who's Hell-bent on destroying the USA, he'll bow down and kiss your ring.

Any questions?

Osama Bin Laden's father was poor, blind in one eye, illiterate and an immigrant to Saudi Arabia and managed to get rich in a country that isn't known for its opportunities.

BTW, I haven't become rich in the US.

I haven't either, but I've become very comfortable.

I was born into a dirt poor family. I started working in construction, during the summers at the age of 13. At 13 I was forming and pouring concrete. I finished high school and continued to work. I never went to college.

I spent less than I made and saved my money. I eventually invested that money into my first business. I invested the money I made in that business into other businesses.

5 years ago I sold my last business. I took 6 months off because I'd never had a real vacation. I didn't collect unemployment because I didn't need it or want it.

After 6 months I went to work for one of the 50 largest commercial contractors in the US and I'm still there. I'm 51 and could retire today if I wanted, but I'd rather work.

No one ever gave me anything and I never asked for anything, except an opportunity to work.

If anyone is not making it in this country, they have no one to blame but themselves.

When I was 13 just about the only work available to city girls was babysitting at 35 cents an hour.

And if you had your way, according to many of your own posts, you'd rape me of my savings. You'd like to rape every other productive American citizen of their savings to pay for the unproductive.

You are productive because you live in a place where there is potable water, roads, Internet, police and a defense force.

Move to Somalia the Congo, Liberia or Burundi where there is limited or no govt and no taxes and let's see how productive you are there.

Your claim to productivity did not arise in a vacuum. The infrastructure of society - paid for by taxes - is what allowed your productivity. How productive would you be if for example we did away with public assistance to the poor. Can you work while there is rioting in the street or maybe an insurgency or an epidemic not treated by tax funded govt?

Lastly, even Jesus Christ, the Lord made flesh himself tells you not to complain about paying taxes with money the govt creates. Whose seal is on those dollar bills you don't want to pay taxes with?

PS: There could be alternatives to direct taxation like import duties, or direct ownership of natural resources (no more private oil patches or private mines) like seen in Norway and use that as an alternative revenue stream but I have a feeling even in those cases you social darwinists would be against using that money to aid the poor in any way also based on this 'let the weak die' philosophy.

Are you suggesting the productive rich should feel something like gratitude to their country and give back some of the wealth their country made it possible for them to earn?

For shame!

No, he's suggesting the government TAKE MORE my money by force, without my consent. The government already takes a sizable portion of my money, so I 'give back' already.

Then they spend my money on wars and welfare. I don't consent to either.

Do you believe we would be better off if we increased revenue to the government?
