Barry watches Sasha play basketball!!)

Barry watches Sasha play basketball!!)

While Egypt burns (does this sound familar)
The Middle East is in danger of going up in flames and Obama is too busy watching his daughter's basketball game to be bothered. You just can't make this stuff up folks. If we actually had a media that was not totally in the tank for Obama, this would be all over the news.

Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other top administration officials took part in a two-hour meeting about the situation in Egypt, Reuters reports. According to the White House spokesman, President Obama was not at the meeting, but will receive an update from his national security team later today. Obama spent the morning watching his daughter, Sasha, play basketball at the Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center in Chevy Chase, according to pool reports

As the great journalist I.F. Stone once wrote: “All governments are run by liars and nothing they say should be believed.”

Falk knows this truism about governments; most everyone does. He dare speaks this truth? Thank you, Richard Falk.

Regarding David Ray Griffin, I am going to make a point to read:

Fighter jets overfly Cairo Square.

Made people more angry.

Chant:

"You are flying. We are not." LMAO

Tiananmen won't have the same effect here.

the news is reporting this morning that Mubarak's approach appears to be to foster chaos by removing the police on the idea that people will demand he rescue them and restore order.

Since January 3, 2011, Republicans have controlled the power of the purse.

the news is reporting this morning that Mubarak's approach appears to be to foster chaos by removing the police on the idea that people will demand he rescue them and restore order.

exactly.

not working.

All the revolution has to do then is wait.

Status Quo can't wait...

It was a wild, historical victory celebration, Mubarak's own tanks freeing his capital from his own dictatorship.

In the pantomime world of Mubarak himself – and of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in Washington – the man who still claims to be president of Egypt swore in the most preposterous choice of vice-president in an attempt to soften the fury of the protesters – Omar Suleiman, Egypt's chief negotiator with Israel and his senior intelligence officer, a 75-year-old with years of visits to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and four heart attacks to his credit. How this elderly apparatchik might be expected to deal with the anger and joy of liberation of 80 million Egyptians is beyond imagination. When I told the demonstrators on the tank around me the news of Suleiman's appointment, they burst into laughter.

....However crazed Mubarak's choice of vice-president and his gradual appointment of a powerless new government of cronies, the streets of Cairo proved what the United States and EU leaders have simply failed to grasp. It is over......."

How impotent they look. AlJ told to shut down. AlJ still broadcasting.

I'd like to see Obama get his chops busted again.

Don't worry about that. ;}

...Indeed, Obama's own response – about the need for reforms and an end to such violence – was an exact copy of all the lies Mubarak has been using to defend his regime for three decades. It was deeply amusing to Egyptians that Obama – in Cairo itself, after his election – had urged Arabs to grasp freedom and democracy. These aspirations disappeared entirely when he gave his tacit if uncomfortable support to the Egyptian president on Friday. The problem is the usual one: the lines of power and the lines of morality in Washington fail to intersect when US presidents have to deal with the Middle East. Moral leadership in America ceases to exist when the Arab and Israeli worlds have to be confronted.....

So the "liberation" of Cairo – where, grimly, there came news last night of the looting of the Qasr al-Aini hospital – has yet to run its full course. The end may be clear. The tragedy is not over."

But really now, seriously (or even ultra-seriously): Can you imagine watching these astonishing events in Egypt unfold, and coming away feeling "depressed" and "fed up" because people were excited about it? Can you even fathom such a reaction? If not, then you, my friend, are no progressive.

And of course the Amazing Juxtaposition of how the US MSM can spend 100's of thousands to attend and report on Davos

but just can't seem to find Anything in the budget for Free for All Cairo.

8D

Curious to link a place with a protest you have seen on Al Jazeera (and only Al Jazeera: US "media companies" can send journos to Davos... and who can forget what Marc Faber thinks of all those who have gone to Davos... and spend $100K+ per person, but can't cover, at no cost, what is rapidly becoming the most important event of the decade) over the past two days? Here is your chance: the New York Times has put together an interactive map of Cairo highlighting the key protest areas, which also happen to be the key choke points in the geography of the Egyptian capital. -zerohedge

Well if you start with Pappy Bush's reign of terror beginning in '89, we've had 32 years of tyrannical rule.

The center of 6% consumes 30% while borrowing 75%.

The periphery goes first. But what's comin' starts with zero volume Monday or a melt down.

Ford down 13% Friday. There is no way this one is not going to hurt like nothing we ever imagined.
