Don't dare post an opposing opinion or you'll be gang attacked and out on your ass in a matter of a few posts.

So fartboy, is that why you post here...? Trolling for a piece of ass? Or are you trolling with YOUR ass?

So what's the fartboy name? A mating call for you? That certainly explains a lot... So the pic WAS correct. LOL

I didn't even last that long as Salon. Seems like they had a watch on my screen name. I registered, got the approval, and then got the message "this screenname is banned" when I went to make my first post.

I posted there and lasted about 5 days despite the gang attacks. I've posted on a few other leftist sites, but was unceremoniously banned from each within a matter of days.

That's correct and keeping him on was very much Robin's call against the wishes of others - and he still bad mouth's Robin as a Jim Rob when she was fighting against his banning.

That's Sneakypete's view of the world (which he has every right to) in a nutshell if you ask me.

You just never get tired of lying,do you? I called her Jim Robin when she restricted me to only 3 posts a day for unapproved thought. She later admitted she had done that by mistake and had only intended on restricting me to 10 posts a day for unapproved thought. Which is better, but still not free speech.

Which isn't surprising since the socialists on that board are big fans of European governments, and none of them have the freedoms we have here.

Other than Russia, that is. Russians even have the right to possess private weapons now.

How freaking ironic is THAT?

Wouldn't it have been easier to just type "I still can't prove you wrong"?

McCarthy never proved anyone was a commie.

Nice spin. McCarthy COULDN'T prove he was right without divulging Top Secret information he had access to as the Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee. The FBI had the Soviet embassy telephones tapped, and McCarthy allowed himself to be held up as a liar rather than divulge classified information that would have harmed the country.

It was the KGB that proved McCarthy was right when they opened their files to historians after the USSR collapsed. Every name McCarthy listed as a Soviet agent was listed in the KGB files as a Soviet agent.

. I have your number.

I doubt it,and even if you did you wouldn't understand it.

Yup. That's why I say the communists all morph into fascists the instant they gain power. Once they get to the top they are no longer interested in sharing anything.

Russians even have the right to possess private weapons now.

How freaking ironic is THAT?

When did that change?

I was looking into this about a year ago, and at that time it wasn't allowed... at least, according to my research.

It was made a part of their new Constitution after Yeltsin was elected, and signed into law in July of that year. I WANT to say July 4th,but that may just be wishful thinking. It may have been on July 7th.

One of my friends over there was (he's dead now) a professor at a local university, and he had to be the biggest gun nut I have ever met in my life. The first time I met him in person was when I was invited to dinner at his house, and after dinner he plops a big book down on the dining room table and says,"So,tell me what guns you have." When I started out with Browning Hi-Power,he said something like "Oh,yes! That is page 936!" and opened the book to that page so we could discuss it. He knew the exact page number of every gun I mentioned.

When I asked him why a gun freak like him only owned a pellet gun instead of a real gun,he got serious and told me "It may be a trick! They might tell you this now to sucker you into buying one,and then change the law in a few years and then arrest you for it!"

Vladimir grew up with a father that was a Major in the KGB,and tapped his own phone to make sure nobody in his family was doing or saying anything that could get them into trouble.

Paranoia wasn't a mental illness for people who grew up in the old Soviet Union. It was a survival trait.

BTW,I MAY be wrong, but I SUSPECT you might have to become a Russian citizen before they would allow you to buy or legally possess a weapon there.

The Mrs. and I will be discussing this issue (among others) when she gets back from vacation. (I don't get "real" vacation, because all of my time off is for my studies.)

Anyway, we've thought about this quite a bit... IIRC, you can get a permit to have one, provided you know someone, and have sufficient funds to make sure everything goes smoothly. But as you mentioned, things could always change.

I've seen some of the Russian 9mm pistols- I wasn't impressed. My wife would like to have an XD or a P89-94 Ruger, but the question is always *how?*

I won't live anywhere that I can't own firearms- which is why I recently turned down job offers in Boston and D.C. This is one area that is non- negotiable. :-|

There are no problems bringing your rifle or shotgun into Russia. Handguns are not allowed. We will handle all the necessary formalities to obtain the permits. This may take up to two months and will require informing us of the make, model, serial number and a caliber of the weapon. You are allowed to bring 2 firearms and 100 rounds of ammunition for each weapon. Lead shot is permitted on all waterfowl hunts. Shells for waterfowl hunts can be bought in Russia. The gun permit will be given to you at the airport by one of our staff who will help you clear customs.

There are no problems bringing your rifle or shotgun into Russia. Handguns are not allowed.

That's for tourists coming into Russia to go hunting, not resident aliens living in Russia or for Russian citizens.

There was an attempted bank robbery in Russia about a year after Yeltsin took office that I remember reading about in the St.Petersburg Times. A bank robber came into a bank in one of the smaller cities and when he stuck his gun in the face of one teller, another teller picked up her Makarov and shot him in the head.

The response of the local police chief was "Good shooting, huh?",and he did mention she had a legal right to own the gun.

Quite the catchy slogan. As Communism is the masses running things in joint ownership, it does bring up images of how much a joke something can be if it is horribly convoluted being designed by committee, and when power is in a few hands a state can move on something really quickly and outflank any competition.

This is not something I quite agree with, but it gives food for thought, thanks.

There is nothing wrong with getting older and losing patience with idiotic people and behavior.

I remember when I was considered anti-social by nurses when I was broken armed out after my fall and they told me to buzz them if I took a BM and they would come and clean me up.

I asked, "What the fuck is a BM?"

Nurse - "A bowel movement.

Me - "Oh, you mean if I have to shit."

Wincing Nurse, "Just buzz and we'll help.

~a few days later ~

Nurse - We are concerned, you have not gotten help with cleaning up after a BM."

Me - "You mean a shit."

Wincing Nurse in ignore the crude bastard mode - "No, I mean a BM."

Me - "Well darling, I just swing the handicapped bar in place, wrap it in ass wipe paper, and rub my ass on it to floss it clean."

Bewildered not believing the in-credulousness of my statement Nurse, "You are what?!?!"

Me - "Relax, my sister brought me ice tongs so I can preform the toxic shit clean up myself, all is well cool and under control; now, go way."

I understand Pete's impatience with drama queen control freaks. get good tips and information from him that will allow me to be a better thorn in the Nurse Ratchets of the world as I ..... mature.

I never want to make people happy as a prime directive, or to be manageable. I prefer to make people think and to keep learning until the day my body expires and I move to the next level. ;-D

Endless crude references to abnormal sex acts along with personal attacks could do it however.

It didn't do it for the foul-mouthed liberals who attacked me. Any criticism of "Dear Leader" or his policies and they unleashed an unending torrent of abuse on posters.

When I was at Salon, they thought I was a rightie.

Which is a pretty good indication of how far left they really are.

I guess political orientation is in the eye of the beholder.

Oh,yeah. That is a universal truth. Hell,I get called a commie every once in a while.

"Sue them and get your tuition back."

ROTFLOFAO!!!

ANYBODY that falls for the rhetoric of the political theorists of ANY stripe hook, line, and sinker is cruising for a fall. Theory is fine, but reality is where people have to live, and the reality is far from the theory.

Said well by someone who seems to have a talent for reading between the lines.

I remember one really earnest kid who was brown nosing Ken Kesey really horribly at one of the three New Years Parties I got to go to at his farm in Pleasant Hill, OR when I worked for Merry Prankster Mike Hagan (He was the man who filmed the trips around the country on Further the bus) and Ray Sewell.

He had memorized much Kesey prose and was torturing the man who was recovering from a bad cold.

Kesey had enough and he and three friends lured the kid outside, panted him and did a one, two, three, heave of him into the cold wet swampy area near the big barn.

He looks shocked and was mortified, and Kesey said between laughing snits, "sorry, but you'll thank me later."

The kid left an hour later long before the merriment was over. Kesey was always much more easy to get along with if you treated him like a regular dude and ditched any try to impress him with any pretentiousness of any kind. ;-D

It is a matter of perspective, but it has a wee bit to do with my propensity to act in an iconoclastic manner wherever I am.

Yeah, everybody seems to really hate that. They want to pigeonhole everybody into identifiable groups and feel betrayed when one of their on-line "friends" suddenly disagrees with some aspect of their favorite dogma.

Since humans are by nature pack animals,it is a natural reaction for most people. It's a survival trait. If humans hadn't been tribal animals we never would have survived to form civilizations.

It's just not necessary for everyone to be so ready to agree with anything in order to be allowed to join the collective anymore. Or even healthy for society.

Those must have been some interesting parties. Those guys REALLY "thought out of the box".

Regardless of your political viewpoint, you have to give the hippies of the 60's credit for one thing, the creation and popularization of the phrase "Question Authority!"

Unfortunately, too many of them grew up to BECOME authorities themselves, and pompous ones at that.

This is true. And reminds me - as long as I'm reminiscing on the Merry Prankster set how disappointed I was to find they were just people too, many of which were an annoying cross between carnies, con men/women and people who were disturbing enough to make you wonder what they had against you.

They were not at all like I had stereotyped and glorified them to be when I watched them from afar.

For example, Hagan is from a rich cowboy/rancher family from Pendleton, OR in Eastern, OR and a raging drunk. If he owed you and you caught him before his first drink, he would pay up, but forget it if he had had even just his first drink of the day.

The guys still owes me almost 200 dollars I'll never see. Not that I was the only person stiffed when his and Sewell's restaurant, Chez Ray's went tits up.

They were pretty crazy. Though the Pranksters and people around them were/are experienced with the foible and down side of infamy and fame and anyone that tries/tried to exploit or use them or a situation of socializing with them quickly found these seemingly unorganized iconoclasts and individualists would act in well oiled concert to do you in or fix your wagon good for thinking they were an easy target.

I know that though there was always the best LSD on the planet at a large gathering like this, they left the frying to the guests and others who were like moths fluttering around them like they were groovy black light or psychedelically painted bulbs.

The generally sat back and watched the strap hangers entertain themselves and things often looked on the verge of going out of control but never did as they were savvy on keeping a lip on things to the point it needed to be.

I know that Ken himself could always afford to be laid back, merry or detached as he wished. As it wasn't him who would take you out if you crossed the line. It was his wife who at her best could scare a pack of raging pit bulls to death she could get so intense.

Most of the biggest assholes and leftists in this country came from rich families. Hell,it was American leftists that financed the Russian Revolution that ended with Marx and Stalin.

Must be some kind of guilt thing that comes from having too much after too little effort.

Didn't she haul his bus out of a pigpen a couple of years ago and sell it to somebody that wanted to restore it?

Mike Hagan is the gray haired man with the blue shirt standing second from the end of the line of Pranksters and usual suspects standing next to the new Further.

This is from the Kesey website, Key-Z.com

Oh yeah, the restore Further project. The Keseys allowed them to pull the original bus out of the swamp with the thought of restoring her.

You know how noble ideas are when they meet the reality at how decrepit a bus can get after spending decades with trees growing up around it.

It's sort of a project in deep stall mode.
