"An intern to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords who aided the congresswoman after she was shot in the head and the family of a 9-year-old girl who was killed will sit with first lady Michelle Obama for President Barack Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday night," the Associated Press writes.
Hernandez is the young man who performed some basic first aid on Giffords immediately after the 40-year-old congresswoman was shot on Jan. 8, at the start of a rampage that left six people dead and another 13 including Giffords wounded by gunfire. As we wrote last week, Hernandez doesn't think he's a hero. But many others do.
The little girl, Christina Taylor Green, had gone with a neighbor to meet Giffords.
The AP adds that:
"Giffords' office said that her Arizona doctors trauma surgeons Peter Rhee and Randall Friese and neurosurgeon Michael Lemole and nurse Tracy Culbert planned to attend the annual address."
The State of the Union address is set for 9 p.m. ET tomorrow. We're planning to live-blog during it.
