Title: How GE Is Arming China to Compete with Boeing--and America

General Electric (GE) plans to sell its aircraft electronics to Chinese companies, and if you don't have a problem with that, maybe you should. After all, China just flight-tested a prototype stealth fighter (pictured), it continues to build up its military -- and we can only hope it's not planning to expand its territory in ways that threaten the U.S.

But if China does decide to get aggressive with the U.S., GE will have provided it with the aircraft technology it will be using.

According to The New York Times, GE is signing a deal to sell avionics technology -- electronics that control an aircraft's basic in-flight operations -- to Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China (CACC), which aspires to build commercial and military aircraft. GE will do this through a joint venture with a Chinese company, Aviation Industry Corp. of China (Avic). Avic makes avionics for CACC and for China's military -- including its stealth fighter.

Sure, GE is based in the U.S., but that doesn't mean its shareholders expect it to be loyal to U.S. interests. Still, selling technology it developed for U.S. companies like Boeing (BA) to Boeing's Chinese competitors -- which are trying to build a competing aircraft company -- may be going too far. The question facing American policymakers is how to keep GE from crossing the line before it's too late.

A $400 Billion Market for Aircraft Products

Officially, this GE/Avic venture will be making a commercial aircraft for CACC. The Times reports that together, they'll build CACC's C919 -- a single-aisle plane capable of carrying up to 200 passengers and designed to compete with the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320 -- to be delivered in 2016. The avionics technology that GE/Avic will supply is the same as GE is providing to Boeing for its 787 Dreamliner, an industry-leading concept vehicle that is proving awfully hard for Boeing to deliver.

Is GE betraying its customers and its country? I think so. And the reason it's doing so is simple: GE believes that China will be a $400 billion market for its aircraft products over the next two decades. To be fair, GE is making all sorts of noises about how China's aircraft industry isn't sophisticated, so it won't be able to make use of all GE's advanced technology against Boeing or the American military. GE also claims it briefed the U.S. government before selling this technology to China, and that its joint venture will keep a Chinese Wall (pun intended) between its commercial and defense units.

I don't find that at all comforting. Here's one reason why.

And why are they doing this???

Because U.S politicians have:

A.) Burdened American businesses with the highest corporate tax rates in the world

B.) Created an onerous, convoluted and contradictory regulatory regime that depresses innovation and job creation (amazingly, Obama has acknowledged this just a day or two ago)

C.) Destroyed our education system to the point that we cannot and do not graduate enough high school students with the knowledge needed to succeed in college engineering, math, and science programs which is critical to our survival as a prosperous country (Obama knows this too, which is why he has always paid lip service to Charter Schools, but he doesn't have the cajones to do battle with the selfish teacher's union so we can reform the rotten public school system).

This is called cause and effect. The cause is the power hungry politicians f'ing up for decades. The effect is business shipping jobs overseas.

It needs to change RIGHT NOW.

A little Chinese "wealth spread" under the table should settle the matter, in China's favor.

BullBush! They are doing it for greed, pure and simple. If US corporate tax rates were only 1% and the Chinese were .9 percent, they would still do it.

Already a done deal.Count on it.

What both branches of the ruling party are doing right now is figuring out which congresscritters and US Senators are holding seats that are safe enough for them to be the front men to stop dead any attempt to shut the deal down, and which ones have vulnerable seats and would be good, safe "spokesmen" to go public with protests to make the party bosses look good.

No they wouldn't because America's system of property rights is more developed and stable than China's, so it provides a lower risk investment environment.

Investment decisions are all about risk and reward. Today, the reward of spending money on capex and other long-term investments in politically unstable China outweighs the risk because of onerous U.S. taxes and regulations.

If you had any experience at all in business serving customers, you would know this.

Do you realize that what you are doing is making excuses for treason?

The true treasonists are the politicians and their supporters who have destroyed the general welfare to protect their special interests so they can get reelected. They should be held accountable.

Well some of us are surprised [rolling eyes]

I posted over at LP recently on China's new hypervelocity missiles
BVR [beyond visual range] capability,
and,...not a sniff : )....LOL

Following J 20 development on the net,
Aviation guru's coment its got ahuge internal weapons bay capable of hauling those big ass standoff missiles,
not just decades old slugs either,....optical capable with real time sat uplink and counter measure/react movement.
If China has the Loiter technology which US,Israel and Russia have in their stand off launch muni's,....this will be huge factor.
We know China was given Sat uplink technology for C4I inter service combat co-ordination.
China even ran their encryption openly in past mil manuevers off Taiwan and showed the west they had it up and running.
Looks like the Globalists are tooling China up for something military in the future,....like they did Russia and Germany pre WW-2 and during.

Yup,and the price of scrap steel keeps rising, right during the time of the year where it is traditionally at it's lowest. It's up to 11 bucks a hundred now.

That doesn't happen unless governments are buying it,and governments don't buy scrap steel to make hammers.
