No one knows what was in the shooter's head, what his actual political bent might be, whether he was left-leaning or right-leaning, or what caused him to commit this heinous act. What we do know is that the political discourse on radio and television has gotten more mean-spirited and vile than ever before. Anyone with half a screw loose who listens to this crap on a daily basis can probably be easily incited to commit any number of crimes in the name of their particular cause.
And the audio and video bile to which we are subjected has nothing to do with free speech or improving government or saving whatever...it's on the air only because it makes money for stations, networks and advertisers. Until that changes, the on-air nastiness will continue and tragedies like this will probably proliferate.
