yep, and then the racist white southerners became Republicans. Case in point - Strom Thurmond was a Democrat until 1964 before becoming a Republican. Thank Nixon's "Southern Strategy."

Barbour to this day defends Mississippi's secession and now has praised a group that was dedicated to non-violent segregation, including deporting blacks to the north.
