In the wake of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s death, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s recent remarks may not sit well with some. The Secretary reworked her schedule to tour the border Friday to meet with and praise the efforts made by Agent Terry and his colleagues. She quoted FBI statistics indicating violent crime in the four border states of Texas, California, New Mexico, and Arizona was sharply down. Homeland Security numbers show that illegal immigration has dipped from 725,093 in 2000 to 219,318 in 2010, while seizures of currency, drugs and guns are going up, and to quote Napolitano, “… the numbers that need to be going up are going up and the numbers that need to be going down are going down, and substantially so." Many question where the figures come from, mentioning the lack of scrutiny and true comparison figures in past years. Others bring into question the extremely violent “gang activity” factor, increasing dramatically and spilling over the border and into this country Napolitano also said in a USA Today article that “it would be wrong to conclude from recent killings that drug violence is on the rise or rampant along the border”. Maybe it’s time to remove the signs warning visitors that “travel is not recommended” and “smuggling and illegal immigration may be encountered”, and replace them with “Gangland”.
Poster Comment: The people in the Laredo Texas city hall when it got shot up by federales, might not agree with Nappy. BTW, I'm well south of interstate 8, but I'm NOT leaving! If the drug runners and coyotes don't like it, they can go home.

You would think if they put up a sign it would be to warn the criminals that THEY are in danger,not the citizens THEY WERE HIRED TO PROTECT. Somebody needs to remind these people that in the private world people who cannot perform the jobs they were hired to do find themselves out of jobs.
