United States News Title: Fact-checking a fact-checker -- Obamacare is a federal takeover of the medical industry. PolitiFact has labeled as its lie of the year: A government takeover of health care. How can that be? Simple. First, it attributed the lie to Frank Luntz, who somehow cooked this phrase up in his focus group laboratory. Frankenquote. Bwa ha ha. Never mind that Ronald Reagan warned that Medicaid would lead to a government takeover of medicine more than 45 years ago. The important thing is defining what a government takeover of health care is. PolitiFact already redefined year as meaning 2009. From PolitiFact: 1. Employers will continue to provide health insurance to the majority of Americans through private insurance companies. 2. Contrary to the claim, more people will get private health coverage. The law sets up exchanges where private insurers will compete to provide coverage to people who dont have it. 3. The government will not seize control of hospitals or nationalize doctors. 4. The law does not include the public option, a government-run insurance plan that would have competed with private insurers. 5. The law gives tax credits to people who have difficulty affording insurance, so they can buy their coverage from private providers on the exchange. But here too, the approach relies on a free market with regulations, not socialized medicine. Under definition No. 3, the British National Health Service is not a government takeover of health care. Doctors have not been nationalized and hospitals run independent but can be subject to government sanctions if they kill too many patients. Point No. 1 is not quite true. The majority is slimming down from 67% to something closer to 51% and some projections were for only 33% of the nation to be covered by private insurance once the federal government takes over, because not all employers will continue to provide health insurance. Obamacare makes it too expensive for employers to continue to provide health insurance. Already McDonalds and more than 30 other companies and unions received waivers from these federal sanctions. If you are providing health insurance only with the permission of the federal government, government has taken over your health insurance. We shall see how many companies dump employee health insurance. So PolitiFact lied on points 1 and 3. Point 2 is interesting because these exchanges do not come naturally. The government is trying to get health insurers to create something that seems to have no market. Many of the 32 million uninsured (a number that magically replaced the 50 million touted just two years ago) simply do not want to pay premiums for health insurance. This makes sense for people in their 20s who are not in the mood to procreate. I am curious as to how big a market there is for this and just how a company profits from this. Point 5 is well taken. Point 4 is curious as well. At the time of Frank Luntz and his diabolical focus grouping (as if Democrats dont) the government option calling it the public option is spin the government option was very much a part of this amalgamation. The crux of the PolitiFacts argument is But here too, the approach relies on a free market with regulations, not socialized medicine. The government should regulate. But through our duly elected representatives not through the 100 bureaucracies unleashed upon the industry. Theer is no practical oversight by Congress of these furies. We now have 1460 volumes of regulations created by bureaucracies. I cannot remember when Congress overturned them. When the EPA was created, troglodytes said someday the EPA will regulate your every exhalation. 40 years later, I offer two words: Carbon dioxide. The intent of the Democrats in Congress was a government takeover of the medical industry. By bureaucracy. Media groups such as PolitiFact provide cover when they dismiss this truth as a lie.

This is hardly news to anyone who has been watching. Hellary has been sizing up the medical/pharmaceutical industry since the early nineties and everyone knows Dhimmycrats seek to control the private sector through government bureaucracy since FDR.
