The last House race of the midterm elections has been decided. Politico reports that Republican Randy Altschuler has conceded to Democratic Rep. Tim Bishop in New York.
This means there will be 242 Republicans and 193 Democrats in the new Congress that convenes Jan. 5. Republicans won 63 seats in the 2010 elections to take the majority.
Newsday reports that Altschuler, who spent $2.8 million of his own money on the race, will not seek a full hand recount of the nearly 200,000 ballots that were cast. Bishop had a lead of at least 263 votes.
