Bedbugs have invaded Beverly Hills, California. The bedbugs made it from New York City to Beverly Hills in more than two dozen communities. Well, no one knows if they came from the East Coast, but it's the same problem. "It's really all over the county," Angelo J. Bellomo, director of environmental health for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, said in a statement. Health officials began tracking bedbug reports last spring after seeing an increase in complaints from tenants, property owners and businesses. Now, there are about 55 reports each month. The rice-sized brown pests have been confirmed. Bedbugs have invaded the United States and have been found in upscale hotels, businesses, churches, medical facilities and college dormitories. The pests are "very good hitchhikers" that can migrate on luggage, clothing, beds, furniture and other items. The problem is, the critters also reside in draperies, pillows and even electronics. The adult bedbugs can live more than a year without feeding. However, the infestation in Southern California is far less severe than in New York, Ohio and other places in the country.
