International News Title: Website for upcoming John Lennon documentary mocks Drudge Report A Website for an upcoming John Lennon documentary, "The U.S. vs. John Lenon," mocks the conservative leaning Drudge Report, calling itself "Grudge Report," RAW STORY has found. The film's distributor Lion's Gate purchased the site domain for http://theusversusjohnlennon.com back in February, but the site apparently didn't go live until a few weeks ago. "'JOHN LENNON' PARAMOUNT/LIONSGATE MOVIE CAMPAIGN MOCKS DRUDGE REPORT," reads a headline at Drudge Report posted Wednesday night. A film site called Movie Web appears to be the first to take notice. "This is pretty weird," wrote Brian Gallagher for Movie Web. "The site opens up to a "Grudge Report" site, that is obviously mocking the Drudge Report site, that has a bunch of little Lennon-related links on it." "Click on the first one to get to the movie's site, though there isn't much there," wrote Gallagher. "All we get is a Trailer, a brief Synopsis, a Message Board, a link to this Nutopia thing and a link to register for updates. Pretty weird, but not heavy on content." Currently, "Grudge Report" claims that the site has had 494,202 visitors in the last 31 days, and 15,942 in the past 24 hours. The main link at top of the site takes the reader to a page in which the film's trailer can be viewed, along with a synopsis of the documentary and even a message board. "The U.S. vs. John Lennon is a compelling and provocative look at John Lennon's transformation from beloved musical artist to anti-war activist to iconic inspiration or peace that also reveals the true story of why and how the U.S. government tried to silence him," according to the film's Website. "The film will also show that this was not just an isolated episode in American history but that the issues and struggles of that era remain relevant today." According to the Internet Movie Database, the documentary will feature interviews with Lennon's widow Yoko Ono and son Sean Lennon, along with the eclectic mix of Walter Cronkite, Geraldo Rivera, Angela Davis, and G. Gordon Liddy. Grudge Report links to other Lennon-related Websites and articles as well. Clicking on the link called "Fans embrace Lennon's battle with govt." takes one to the publisher's Website for the book Gimme Some Truth: The John Lennon FBI files written by Jon Weiner. Clicking on "JOHN AND YOKO PLEAD - GIVE PEACE A CHANCE" takes one to a video for the 1969 "Bed-In" for peace by Lennon and Ono. The film is scheduled to be released this September by Lion's Gate in conjunction with VH-1.
