When the Bay Area's weather permits, folk legend Joan Baez sleeps 20 feet above ground in a wall-less treehouse nestled inside a 200-year-old oak on her property. On Wednesday, while disembarking from the house, she fell to the ground, sending her to the hospital. Baez was treated for minor injuries at Stanford Hospital after the incident at her Woodside, Calif., home. Nancy Lutzow, who works at Baez's company Diamonds & Rust Productions, told the San Jose Mercury News on Thursday that the singer was "resting comfortably." Actually, I have a reputation of staying in harness in a forest or city tree sit more than most folks doing this. I have spent weeks high in a five to six hundred year old tree in old growth with no mishap because I had training in the military as aircraft crew and a paratrooper to pay attention to detail as far as safety goes. I had help the day I fell, and in this case, Joan Baez didn't. All we had in common is the gravity of the situation of being a resident of Earth. Hope she heals well and quickly.
