DENVER (AP) 52; Members of Colorado's American Constitution Party are trying to figure out what to do next after winning more than 36 percent of the vote in the general election.

That will make them Colorado's third major party, joining Democrats and Republicans in the big leagues, when the results are certified Nov. 26. They got there with help from former GOP congressman Tom Tancredo, who switched to their party to run for governor.

Now the party with just 30 members and 2,700 registered voters must figure out how to hold caucuses in 3,200 precincts across the state and deal with their fundamental opposition to primaries.

The party's secretary-treasurer, Amanda Campbell, says the party is hoping it can get exemptions or change some of its bylaws.

American Constitution Party ... winning more than 36 percent of the vote in the general election.

The Colorado GOP spoilers need to go away. They're just helping the Hickenlooper dems win.

i wonder if Tancredo will run for President. Having he, Palin and Ron Paul up there will be interesting.

On January 3, 2011 the GOP assumes responsibility for deficit spending.

I'd be nice to have someone electable involved too. Tanc and RP I like, but don't really consider them electable. I could be wrong though. I never thought that McStain had any chance of getting the GOP nomination. Man, was I wrong!

The primary process is amazingly screwed up in just about every State. Each State tends to have their own unique way of screwing the electorate, and keeping third party candidates at bay.

Having some malcontents in the debates does tend to raise the level of discourse though, so that's a good thing.

I'll throw in some suggestions that might have a chance of getting elected, if they start real soon:

Andrew Napalatano

Rand Paul

Tom McClintock

Joe Arpio (maybe)

Tommy Franks

Who else? It's a real challenge to find candidates who aren't neo-cons. Some of those may be.

Did the GOP candidate actually win 10% of the vote to allow them to remain a third party candidate? It was looking dicey for a while.

Last I saw Maes was around 11%.

How many did the CP place in office?

No one. In Colorado, a "major" party is one that gets 10% or more of the vote in the last Governor's race. For the next four years, they don't have to gather signatures to gain ballot access.
