On Monday while championing his disastrous economic puzzle, President Obama chided Republicans for driving the economy into the ditch and then standing by while Democrats pulled it out but now that progress has been made he said, “we can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class up front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us, they can come for the ride but they gotta sit in the back.” It was better being in the ditch, Obama must have ignored his GPS, at least the Republicans didn’t drive the economy off the cliff. When Democrat-Socialist took control of the Congress in 2008 unemployment was 4.6% during George Bush’s Watch and we had 52 consecutive months of steady job growth. Since “Hoax & Chains” has become President unemployment nears 10% the economy has shed 4 million jobs, underemployment remains stubbornly high at 18.3% with 43.3 million Americans now receiving food stamps. Housing prices are falling again, consumer confidence remains at levels usually associated with a recession—today the government is expected to announce that economic growth was only about 2% in July, August and September, less than half of what is normal in even a modest recovery.

Note falling GDP "before" the Democrats took control of the Congress and rising GDP since Obama came into office. And private sector job growth - Obama vs. Bush Since “Hoax & Chains” has become President unemployment nears 10% the economy has shed 4 million jobs, underemployment remains stubbornly high at 18.3% with 43.3 million Americans now receiving food stamps.
Since Obama became president, private sector job growth has rebounded. Again: And GDP has rebounded: What is the GOP solution? More tax cuts for the wealthy, end unemployment benefits, kick people off of welfare and into non-existent jobs, privatize education, reduce the size of government which means raising the level of unemployment...

How do you cut $1.2 trillion from $421 billion (noting that cutting taxes will increase the gap).

Obamacare was going to reduce federal health care spending. Yes, the Democrats are horrible but so was George Bush and his Republican Congress. I am hoping, and voted for divided government and gridlock. That is the only thing that we have left.

It's not a defense. It's a fact. Everyone knows it. The GOP is extremely unpopular. They are not going to win on Tuesday. The Democrats are going to lose. It's a big difference. 65% of Americans would fire EVERYONE in Congress and start over. That includes 88% of Tea Party members, 82% of independents and 78% of Republicans.
Bush never signed the 2009 budget. The Dims just kept passing continuing resolutions and Obama signed the Omnibus bill.

In 2001, the employment-to-population ratio was 73.1. Underemployment and discouraged workers who dropped out of sight and never resurfaced. In addition, job creation during the Bush years was a result of government hiring (this time Republicans will shrink the size of government - really, they mean it - this time - trust 'em) and borrowing. The government borrowed trusting we would grow our way out of debt, and individuals borrowed trusting they would grow their way out of debt. Obviously it wasn't sustainable.
