(CNN) – His unorthodox presidential campaign strategy fell flat in 2008, but former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani says he hasn’t ruled out a second try in 2012. "The door's not closed,” Giuliani told Politico on Monday night when asked point-blank if he still has his eyes set on the White House. Hailed as “America’s Mayor” in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, Giuliani’s campaign became a study in how not to run for president: Deciding to forgo seriously competing in the early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina - and instead focusing largely on Florida’s primary a month later - Giuliani was ultimately viewed as an also-ran by the time Sunshine voters weighed in. While still a national figure by all accounts, Giuliani’s presence in political circles across the country over the last two years has been significantly less than that of other Republicans considering a White House bid and it’s unclear if the former mayor still has a significant base of support from which to spring another presidential campaign.

Benito Giuliani will go no where in the GOP primary. Ron Paul got more votes than Giuliani in 2008. If the various Tea Parties can agree early on who to back, there might be a race between whomever they back and Romney, otherwise Romney will take the nomination because it is his turn. Tea Party polls show that they are all over the map on who they like: Chris Christie, Sarah Palin, Ron Paul -- all of whom are very different on things like foreign policy and social issues.

Rudy lost any chance of being taken seriously nationally by voters when he decided to dress up in drag multiple times.
