Title: Military recruiters told to accept gay applicants

WASHINGTON – A Pentagon spokeswoman says recruiters have been told that they must accept gay applicants, following a federal court decision striking down the ban on gays serving openly in the military.

Spokeswoman Cynthia Smith said Tuesday that top-level guidance has been issued to recruiting commands informing them that the military's "don't ask, don't tell" rule has been suspended for now. Recruiters also have been told to inform potential recruits that the moratorium could be reversed at any point.

Last week, a federal judge ordered the military to stop enforcing the 1993 law banning openly gay service members. The Justice Department is appealing the decision and has asked for a temporary stay.

Not so. I don't drink, I am not gay, and I have been to Alaska before, and will be again.

In fact, I updated my passport this summer, which one needs since Bush and Cheney blew up the twin towers and put a missile in the Pentagon.

I also have a place to stay up there, and an invite.

I think it's crazy too. I never had to have a passport to go into Canada or to go up to Alaska before, but that's how it is these days of border stations hundreds of miles from the border.

Go check for yourself.

One of the most commonly asked questions by Alaska travelers concerns the requirements for passports. Passports have long been required for international travelers entering Alaska from foreign countries. US citizens that travel in Alaska are not required to have in their possession a US passport, although a passport is always a useful piece of identification for any traveler. One of the issues that Alaska travelers must consider, is that Alaska shares a common border with Canada, which is a separate and independent country. US travelers passing through Canada have not been required to have a passport in their possession, however, recent legislation has changed this requirement. beginning in 2008, US travelers, including children, traveling between Alaska and Canada via land or sea will be required to have in their possession a current US passport. For information on how to get a passport, click here.

On January 8, 2007, all travelers, including US citizens, will be required to have a passport to travel by air between the United States and Canada. This would include:
Air travel from to any Alaska destination to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory or Vancouver, British Columbia.

Beginning in 2008, all travelers, including US citizens, will be required to have a passport to do the following:
Drive to Alaska from the contiguous United States (aka Lower 48 States)
Use the Alaska Marine Highway Service ferry to travel to Prince Rupert, British
Columbia, Canada
Drive to Haines, Alaska from Southcentral Alaska
Travel from Skagway, to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada
Travel from Fairbanks to Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada

The fat of life these days is the need for a passport to do what I plan on doing. If I were a Washington State resident, I could get an enhanced driver's license that would do away with the passport requirements.

A big part (but certianly not all) of the venom that gays attract is due to some gays who parade their sexuality around -- from showing up in speedos to the gay parade to hitting on any man who is friendly to them.

So this is justification for discriminating against ALL openly gay men? What about men who parade their heterosexuality around by hitting on any woman who is friendly to them? Should they attract venom too?

Just wondering...

What amazes me is I never had so much to talk about involving homosexuality until starting talk on conservative forums.

With normal people, I go next door to my neighbors and help in their garden and never once in the course of a day have pause to muse on how they are a woman couple. But in this forum, man....... It's constant. Sodomy this, Lambda that, bathhouse this, gay bar that, these folks really need to get a life.

Being gay or lesbian has nothing to do with how good or bad a serviceman or woman a candidate will be. This discrimination should of been ended decades ago.

Do you think male homosexuals should be given combat troop commands where they will have the authority to send the men under their command on virtual suicide missions?

I have no problem at all with homosexuals serving in support commands, but not in combat commands.

The problem is once you legally allow them to assume support command positions, they are then going to sue to be given combat command positions and make the claim that they are being discriminated against because it limits their career options.

I don't think that the government should discriminate against gays. I don't believe that the government has any business telling people who and who they can't marry.

The military is a unique branch of the government. They don't exist to be shining examples of individual freedoms. They exist to win wars.

It is also the only branch of government that has the legal authority to send people off to face certain death. This is ONE reason women are not assigned to combat units. A commander may be tempted to send a female off on a suicide mission because she refused his advances. On the other hand,a commander might well refuse to EVER send his girlfriend off on ANY mission where she may face the slightest risk, thereby placing all other members of that unit at higher risk of losing their lives.

The military is very concerned about a thing they call "Good order and discipline." They have to be. Consider the effect on good order and discipline of the above examples.

Those risks also apply to same-gender combat units that would have a homosexual commander or NCO. Do you REALLY want your son or grandson to be faced with the decision to either blow his CO or go off in the first wave of an assault and get killed? Or have him put in the first wave because some other soldier made that decision to avoid being in the first wave himself?

"Out" homosexuals should only be allowed to serve in support units, and even then only under the conditions where they wear the same uniform as others of their gender, and they agree to never be put into command positions.

"I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. what DADT does is tell gay service members to lie to their superiors.

There's something terribly wrong with that.

No,nobody is telling them anything. They agreed to those conditions when they enlisted. Nobody drafted them.

Faggots should never be accepted. God himself said so.

They why did he allow them to be born?

And don't try to make the claim that it was their choice to become a homosexual unless you are a bi-sexual. The only people who believe that to be true are bi-sexuals. The rest of us are born to be attracted to the opposite gender and all the "learning" in the world won't change that.
