WASHINGTON – A Pentagon spokeswoman says recruiters have been told that they must accept gay applicants, following a federal court decision striking down the ban on gays serving openly in the military. Spokeswoman Cynthia Smith said Tuesday that top-level guidance has been issued to recruiting commands informing them that the military's "don't ask, don't tell" rule has been suspended for now. Recruiters also have been told to inform potential recruits that the moratorium could be reversed at any point. Last week, a federal judge ordered the military to stop enforcing the 1993 law banning openly gay service members. The Justice Department is appealing the decision and has asked for a temporary stay.

There is something wrong with that, they shouldn't have to lie about being gay, as there is nothing wrong with that. I have seen people thrown out for being gay and it pissed me off. one good friend of mine worked in the administration part of the battalion I was in and his superior stole his car keys, searched his car, found letters from his boyfriend, and they both were kicked out. He was a very competent, caring person who did his job well. I remember seeing him ... Tell you what I just can't talk about it and will leave it at that. I just got done posting the requirements, half wit. Is the agency posting the quoted requirements seeing things too? Or are you? If I were a Washington State resident, I could get an enhanced driver's license that would do away with the passport requirements.
