Title: White men casting early votes in droves

After three days, one-stop early voting is on a record-setting pace for a midterm election, and white Republican men are furiously casting ballots, according to an analysis by Democracy North Carolina.

The nonpartisan political watchdog group says the total number of Republicans who voted between Thursday and Saturday still trailed Democrats statewide by about 4,300. Yet, the margin is significantly smaller than the 3-1 ratio Democrats held in 2008.

“Early voting doesn’t favor one party or another, but reveals who’s most organized and enthusiastic about making their voices heard,” Bob Hall, executive director of Democracy North Carolina, said in a statement.

Two years ago, black Democratic women led all groups in the 17-day early voting period, helping to propel Barack Obama to a surprise victory in North Carolina, the group said.

So far, 72,173 voters have cast early ballots, which more than doubles the number cast after the first three days of early voting in 2006. Two years ago, more than 266,000 voters crowded one-stop centers in the first three days of early voting.

Brunswick County registered the most early votes, and Chatham, Johnston, Wayne and Wilson counties also ranked among the top 10 counties for most early votes through the first weekend.

Early voting continues through 1 p.m. Oct. 30. Counties have different schedules, including multiple locations and evening hours in some cases, and a complete list of sites and hours is available at the State Board of Elections website.

Gee, I sure hope these early-cast ballots don't get 'lost' or 'misplaced' . . .

I'm a white male, and I got my ballot Saturday and am doing even as I speak. I'll share my vote.

I am in Oregon's 4th Congressional District.

For Senator, Ron Wyden (D) Yes Jim Huffman no

For the House, Peter Defazio (D) yes, Art Robinson (R) hell no

For Governor, John Kitzhaber (D) yes, Chris Dudly (R) no

The nickle and dime races mean nothing unless you are here, so ballot measures:

Measure 70 extending home loan eligibility to all vets, combat or not, Yes

Measure 71 making it so the state legislature meets annually, yes. Currently they meet once every two years unless the Governor calls special sessions.

Measure 72 Amends State Constitution: Authorizes exception to $50,000 state borrowing for state's real estate and personal property projects. Prohibits property tax for repayment. Yes

Measure 73 requiring increased minimum sentences for certain repeated sex crimes; incarceration for repeated driving under the influence, No

Measure 74 establishing medical cannabis supply system and assistance and research programs; allows limited selling of cannabis Yes

Measure 75 authorizing Multnomah County (Portland) casino; casino to contribute monthly revenue percentage to state for specific purposes No

Measure 76 that amends Constitution to continue use of lottery funding for parks, beaches, wildlife habitat, water shed protection beyond 2014 Yes

It's ready to mail, or drop in a vote drop box now as soon as I put it in the privatcy envelope and sign it.

I am still working on Pete Defazio's campaign staff however until the election day deadline.

I personally find the reflexive pandering to voters with constant increases in harsh sentencing guidelines to be nice on paper, but expensive in practice.

Sexual offenders should be tightly monitored their entire life if they are repeat offenders. They should register and be part of the sexual offender's list they have currently. And people should be mad aware of such people living near them.

But I am tired of paying for more and more prisons, am against the death penalty, and think the focus should be put on helping people gain skills and an outlook that helps them not go back to prison once they get out.

If anything, some sentences and penalties should be reduced.

So how do you feel about deportation and hardrock prison labor?

You can't have it both ways. Some animals need to be destroyed.

If you are talking about the immigration issue, sometimes deportation is a good tool. However I support amnesty legislation and people should be allowed to work to qualify for citizenship even if they entered the country illegally.

This is the view that got me booted from eLPee.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'hard rock' prison labor. I support making people work in prison, as those people that develop job skills and a work ethic stay out of prison.

But I support the Constitution's prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment like extremely unbearable work, and the death penalty, which is torture.

Then we are all eventually going to suffer, aren't we? So you are against the practice of abortion also?

One cannot say they uphold and value the sanctity of human life and be for the death penalty.

And I agree with Sister Helen Prejean who will be visit us in Eugene soon that the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment. It is not applied fairly, and it should never, ever be up to the government to decide who should live or die as part of it's legal system.

Apparently from your less than exclamatory response, not as adamantly as you are against the death penalty for murderers and heinous criminals.

Dude, I notice people who loudly and overbearingly trumpet a particular belief are usually trying to convince themselves.

I was a bit taken aback by your question, actually. I mean I say over and over and over again what my view is on this. It gets old, dig?

It tells me you don't pay attention. And it caused me to sadly shake my head and sigh at your thick headedness.

My sister was going to get an abortion years ago. I was so pushy about trying to save my nephew's life, I had an injunction filed against me seeing her at one point.

But eventually she relented and agreed not to abort him. She loves me and him and is glad I did what I did. And so am I.

I am an activist dude. If I believe in something strongly enough, I act. And would do that again in any similar situation.

I have one friend who is a woman who I was very pushy about this in the same way and she had the abortion anyway and she refuses to see me and our friendship is over. Satisfied?

My guess it you are not, as you never are.

I have posted that here, at eLPee, 4UM, Free Republic, and many other places.

I don't know if I ever mentioned my views on abortion at DU, frankly.

Usually I mention it where someone assumes wrongly my view is pro kill the kid because I am not exactly a conservative.

Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

I'm from Wisconsin so the song always had special meaning to me. I remember how unbelievable the sinking was to us. I spent some time on the shores of Superior in Wisconsin, Michigan and the Arrowhead in Minnesota. I saw it blow up and gained much respect for big water which thus far has served me well.

You always obsess over grammatical errors, word use problems, and nit pick points as yukon and as fart in the wind, boobie.

Keep going, you are doing good. Make that little old hole nice and deep, I love watching you dig.
