Al Messerschmidt/Getty Images According to a report released on Yahoo! Sports today, NFL Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway invested $15 million dollars with recently arrested Ponzi schemer Sean Mueller earlier this year.
The former Broncos quarterback and a partner gave Mueller the money to be invested in a hedge fund separate from the rest of the pool, of close to $71 million. As of the conclusion of the investigation, $12 million of the money had been put into a Morgan Stanley trust fund as requested, and $3 million of the money was unaccounted for.
This is just the latest in a series of tragic happenings for Elway since his retirement. From divorce, to lost loved ones, to failed business ideas, it seems that the Broncos' golden boy has lost his Midas touch.
