But I’m basically not a party man. I’d just been forced into that situation by what I considered the excesses of the Bush administration.” Mr. Soros, a champion of liberal causes, has been directing his money to groups that work on health care and the environment, rather than electoral politics. Asked if the prospect of Republican control of one or both houses of Congress concerned him, he said: “It does, because I think they are pushing the wrong policies, but I’m not in a position to stop it. I don’t believe in standing in the way of an avalanche.” What does an avalanche look like? Well, per Gallup’s latest, it looks like a steady double-digit lead on the generic ballot that hasn’t budged despite a week of dopey “Democratic comeback” stories in the media. And, as Moe Lane pointed out a few minutes ago on Twitter, it looks like fully 93 Democratic House seats now in play according to the Cook Political Report — including the one held by Barney Frank. I wonder if, in 30 years of being in the House, Frank’s seat has ever showed up on Cook’s hit list before. Strange days, my friends. Magical days. I am betting on half of what the polls say. If they say 93, it will be 46 or 47. Why? A.) Because the polls also say that the voters dislike the GOP more than they dislike Obama and B.) the current GOP "leadership" are a bunch of testosterone deficient wimps. Right now, I'm betting the GOP picks up 35 to 45 seats. If the polls claim 93, then they'll max out at 47.

If the polls claim 93, then they'll max out at 47. we're in the middle of the expectations game - the GOP wants to downplay expectations to keep turnout of their supporters high, the Democrats want to build up expectations to increase their own turnout and the argue that if the GOP doesn't win 70-80 seats then they have somehow failed. I expect the GOP to take the House and come up around 50-50 in the Senate. But I still don't see any way the GOP can effectively govern with the tea party pulling them toward positions that most Americans will reject (e.g. turning Medicare into a voucher program or privatizing Social Security).

Liberals are now pro nuclear proliferation and in support fundamentalist religions that are against homosexuality.

Reality check - Government spending is down, the deficit is down, government employment is down, and private hiring is up.
