United States News Title: Warning! Gov Chris Christie..,RINO,eco-nut,anti-gun,pro-amnesty,etc,etc,etc Before Republicans start pushing NJ Gov Chris Christie for President, as many did with "Republican" Colin Powell, we might want to find out what Christie actually stands for on more than one issue. I was hopeful he was more than just a conservative on certain fiscal issues. Government School Unions are as evil an institution as America ever tolerated. I'm glad he supports School Vouchers and I wish him luck with that in NJ; I wish more governors would follow suit. Unfortunately, however, someone who slams G-School Unions isn't necessarily your pal. Articles attached. (Note: The Unions spent nearly $20 million in cash to kill California's 1993 voucher initiative, outspending proponents 20-1. If Republicans had the brains to run voucher initiatives every off year in every state that has an initiative process, the G-School Unions would be broke by now from having to outspend us in higher and higher ratios to kill the measures, some of which would have passed and really crippled them.) Excerpt: These tea-party types disagree on a lot of issues, but theyre virtually unanimous in their dislikes. They hate cap-and-trade. They hate immigration amnesty. And they hate national health care reform. Christies weak on all three issues. On immigration, he supports what he calls a commonsense path to citizenship - which is what conservatives call "amnesty. And hes conspicuously absent from that multistate suit to end Obamacare or Pallonecare as Little terms it in honor of its prime sponsor. Christiesnew message is the same old RINO insistence that Republicans have to put up with a lot of liberal nonsense if they want to win elections. The voters feel otherwise. Christie is a cap & tax fan, endorsed RINO Mike Castle over Christine O'Donnell, etc. Christie should cap and trade that RINO rhetoric By Paul Mulshine, The Star Ledger blog.nj.com/njv_paul_muls...raitors_better_start.html Well, that didnt take long. Im talking about the interval between Chris Christies announcement of a nationwide swing to promote Republican candidates and the wholesale rejection of his first big endorsement. That occurred Tuesday in Delaware. Our governor had backed U.S. Rep. Mike Castle in the race for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. Castle is a 44-year veteran of Delaware politics who is the prototypical RINO the term conservatives use to describe a Republican In Name Only who sides with the Democrats on key issues. The key issue in this race was cap-and-trade. As a congressman, Castle was one of the few Republicans to vote for the federal bill to curb CO-2 emissions. That bill is now stalled in the Senate. Delaware tea-party members were adamant about not allowing Castle a chance to support the same bill again. As for Christie, hes a big cap-and-trader, too. New Jersey is already enrolled in a 10-state cap-and-trade system. Christie intends to use the revenue to promote an offshore windmill scheme that is just one Sancho Panza short of an impossible dream. Earlier this month, Christie traveled to his old school, the University of Delaware, to make his first big endorsement. Standing next to Castle, Christie declared In New Jersey, were trying to do the things that Mike Castle has been trying to do for a long time.True enough. But why admit it? I have no idea. The Politico blog offered an explanation. Politico quoted Christie insiders as saying this is all part of his effort to get his message out and promote what he has described as the future road for the party. Unfortunately, that road goes off a cliff. By Tuesday night, Castle was lying at the bottom of it. He had lost the primary to a candidate who was so unorthodox that she didnt have a chance, at least not in the minds of mainstream Republicans. Christine ODonnell is an attractive and outspoken conservative in the Sarah Palin mold. Her detractors, both Republican and Democratic, had great fun lampooning her many TV talk-show appearances, including one in which she is seen arguing that masturbation is wrong. What they failed to notice was that she was running for the U.S. Senate, not Playmate of the Year. Delaware voters could tell the difference. They capped Castles career and traded him for ODonnell. The GOP establishment took to the airwaves Tuesday night to blast the tea parties. These guys should have spent the evening where I spent it, at the International House of Pancakes in Keyport. A group of activists of the tea-party persuasion were meeting to plan strategy in the congressional campaign of Anna Little, who is running against incumbent Democrat Frank Pallone in the 6th District. Little has a political outlook similar to ODonnells, though shes more down-to-Earth. Shes an attorney, a mother and the mayor of Highlands. To get the nomination, little had to do what ODonnell did: take on the state GOP establishment, which was backing Diane Gooch, a wealthy businesswoman from Rumson. Little made up for her lack of funds by getting a lot of tea-party types to knock on doors. In the back room of the IHOP, I watched as Annas Army listened to field director Russell Cote plan out the weekends activities. Little again faces a huge funding disadvantage. Cote said shell make up for that by having volunteers knock on 100,000 doors by Nov. 2. That sort of ground game is almost unheard of, but Little seems to have the troops to pull it off. Keyport was just the central division in an army that has northern and southern divisions as well. These tea-party types disagree on a lot of issues, but theyre virtually unanimous in their dislikes. Christies new message is the same old RINO insistence that Republicans have to put up with a lot of liberal nonsense if they want to win elections. The voters feel otherwise. So if I were the governor, Id cancel that road show. The preview bombed. Time for a new script. www.politico.com/blogs/be...ie_appointed.html?showall I am a conservative from NJ. I don't think you know the real Christie record. His budget actually increased taxes and spending. What he cut was PROPERTY TAX RELIEF. While he has taken on the unions - mostly just the teachers unions - to a point, the bluster has been far greater than the reality. Christie hasn't laid off one state worker. Plus, he's acquiesced on Obamacare, Cap & Trade and is soft on illegal immigration. He just endorsed Mike Castle AGAINST the Tea Party candidate. Quite frankly, Christie wants NOTHING to do with the TP movement. He is and always has been an establishment moderate. His tough talk doesn't change the reality of that. Christie Weasels on the Victory Mosque: Given my last position, that I was the first U.S attorney post 9/11 in New Jersey. I understand acutely the pain and sorrow and upset of the family members who lost loved ones that day. At the hands of radical Muslim extremist. And their sensitivities and concerns have to be taken into account. Just because its nearly nine years later, those sensitivities cannot and should not be ignored. On the other hand, we cannot paint all of Islam with that brush
We have to bring people together. And what offends me the most about all this, is that its being used as a political football by both parties. And what disturbs me about the president remarks is that he is now using it as a political football as well. I think the president of the United State should rise above that. And should not be using this as a political football, and I dont believe that it would be responsible of me to get involved and comment on this any further because it just put me in the same political arena as all of them. My principles on this are two-fold. One, that we have to acknowledge, respect and give some measure of deference to the feelings of the family members who lost there loved ones there that day. But it would be wrong to so overreact to that, that we paint Islam with a brush of radical Muslim extremists that just want to kill Americans because we are Americans. But beyond that
I am not going to get into it, because I would be guilty of candidly what I think some Republicans are guilty of, and the president is now the president is guilty of, of playing politics with this issue, and I simply am not going to do it. Asked if hed call upon both parties to stop, he said, Well, that again will be playing politics with the issue. I said what I feel about it, and I dont believe it is up to me to pontificate on other people about what they should do. I just observe what I observe. And I dont believe that this issue should be a political football. I just dont. And I think that both sides of this issue now are using this as a political football. And I dont think it brings people together in America, I think it just further drives people apart, and creates divisions, and I think thats bad for our country. And all people in our country suffer when those kind of things happen. Chris Christie "clarifies" on amnesty: "Illegals need to go to the back of the line if practicable" Whatever that means. Nice job here by Hannity to press him, however gently, on this mornings kerfuffle. The takeaway: Christie emphasizes that he supports a path to citizenship for people who are here legally the significance of which I dont quite grasp. Does that mean guest workers? Legal permanent residents? In any case, its not some hot-button element of the amnesty debate. Hannity follows up by asking whether that means no path to citizenship for people who are here illegally. Whereupon Christie hedges: Well, he says, they should go to the back of the line and if practical leave the country while waiting to be admitted through legal channels. Which
is pretty much what everyone whos to the right of the progressive caucus in the House says about amnesty. In fact, heres the section on comprehensive immigration reform from Obamas own website: * Responsibility from the federal government to secure our borders: The Obama administration takes this responsibility very seriously and has dedicated unprecedented resources to securing our borders and reducing the flow of illegal traffic in both directions. * Responsibility from unscrupulous businesses that break the law: Employers who exploit undocumented workers undermine American workers, and they have to be held accountable. * Responsibility from people who are living in the United States illegally: Undocumented workers who are in good standing must admit that they broke the law, pay taxes and a penalty, learn English, and get right with the law before they can get in line to earn their citizenship. On immigration, Chris Christie needs a commonsense path to common sense September 26, 2010. Updated: September 27, 2010, 2:45 PM Paul Mulshine/The Star Ledger blog.nj.com/njv_paul_muls...christie_for_amnesty.html (Summary: Christie promotes amnesty, criticizes Arizona's law; when Christie was U.S. Attorney, Lou Dobbs called for Christie's resignation because he believes being here illegally is "not a crime"; "just a civil offense"; Christie's refusal to prosecute illegal aliens who were arrested for other crimes resulted in murders of American citizens after he released them, etc.). Big Time Gun Grabber Per wikipedia, Christie claims he "supports the second amendment". However... Christie supports strict and aggressive enforcement of the state's current gun laws. Including their assault weapon ban, one gun a month, etc. He was a big supporter of the NJ AW ban, etc. From Sean Hannity interview with Chris Christie October 27th, 2009
www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,569805,00.html HANNITY: Are there any issues where you are, quote, moderate to left as a Republican? CHRISTIE: Listen, I favor some of the gun-control measures we have in New Jersey. HANNITY: Bad idea. CHRISTIE: Listen, we have a densely-populated state, and theres a big hand gun problem in New Jersey. Now, I dont support all the things that the governor supports by a long stretch. But I think on guns certain gun control issues, looking at it from a law-enforcement perspective, seeing how many police officers were killed, we have an illegal gun problem in New Jersey. HANNITY: Should every should every citizen in the state be allowed to get a licensed weapon if they want one? CHRISTIE: In New Jersey, thats not going to happen, Sean. HANNITY: Why? CHRISTIE: Listen, the Democratic legislature we have, theres no way those type of things listen, at the end of the day, what I support are common sense laws that will allow people to protect themselves, but I also am very concerned about the safety of our police officers on the streets, very concerned. And I want to make sure that we dont have an abundance of guns out there. www.njcsd.org/joomla/inde...tid=41:newsitems&Itemid=1 Here's Christie's reply to his opponent's ads in the gubernatorial race. Enlightening. blogs.app.com/capitolquic...06/09/corzines-first-ads/ THE FACTS ARE THE FACTS Desperate Corzine already lying about Chris Christies Record Corzine Lie: Christie stands with the NRA FACT: Chris Christie supports the assault weapons ban and all current gun laws. He opposes attempts to permit conceal and carry laws in New Jersey hardly the NRA position. Unlike Jon Corzine, Chris Christie will strictly enforce the gun laws against violent criminals, ending parole against violent felons and making bail harder to get for violent felons. The U.S. Attorneys Office, under Christie, did nearly 800 gun cases and broke up violent gangs in Camden, East Orange, Newark and Asbury Park, jailing hundreds of gang members. Heres Corzines record: murders increased 9% last year, rapes jumped by 15% and burglaries increased by 7%. (Source: NJ Uniform Crime Report, 2008). While Jon Corzine wants to use gun laws to play the typical petty politics of the past, Chris Christie would toughen gun laws to fight criminals and make New Jersey safer another job Jon Corzine has failed in as Governor. Note: Christie's so-called "criminals" include millions of decent Americans who refuse to surrender "assault weapons" along with their constitutional liberties. Corzine Lie: Christie will cut environmental protection FACT: Chris Christie fought hard to protect our environment as U.S. Attorney. In cases like U.S. v. Atlantic, Chris held polluters responsible for their crimes by jailing them and using their fine money to support NJ environmental non-profits and their work. Examples include: U.S. v. Evergreen Corp., which produced fine money which purchased 300 additional acres at the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge and 120 additional acres at the Edwin Forsythe Wildlife refuge in Ocean County. U.S. v. Wallenius Corp., which produce $1.65 million in fine money used for projects to protect the Hudson Raritan Estuary watershed. U.S. v. Clipper Trojan Corp., which produced $1.5 million in fine money used by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation exclusively for NJ environmental protection projects. While Jon Corzine uses the environment for his untruthful smear ads, Chris Christie stands for protecting the environment including efficiently and carefully utilizing our resources. Chris opposes drilling off of the Jersey Shore and encourages the exploration of all types of alternative energy sources, including windmills. Jon Corzines bloated, ineffective DEP is crushing business and not sufficiently protecting our environment. Christies DEP would be smaller, smarter and more effective. Poster Comment: I got this in a email. Click on the links inside the post for further details. As I suspected,Christie is only a conservative by New Jersey standards.
