Conservative media watchdog condemns latest attempt by ACORN 'pimp'
Washington (CNN) – The president of the conservative watchdog group Media Research Center has responded to conservative activist James O'Keefe's attempt to embarrass CNN by misrepresenting himself and plotting to film a meeting with CNN investigative reporter Abbi Boudreau.
"The MRC unequivocally denounces James O'Keefe for his attempted assault on CNN. It isn't just childish and immature; it's ugly, dishonest and filthy," Brent Bozell said in a statement.
"There is no place in the conservative movement for this type of behavior," Bozell said.
Bozell is wary of what he calls "the new Internet journalists" and calls on conservatives to heavily scrutinize so-called journalists like Okeefe.
"Bottom line: We want nothing to do with O'Keefe or his dirty antics," said Bozell.
O'Keefe grabbed headlines in 2009 when he released a video of himself posing as a pimp during a undercover sting aimed discrediting the community organizing group ACORN, which has since disbanded.
Earlier this year, O'Keefe pleaded guilty to entering federal property under false pretenses after he and three other activists were arrested following an attempt to access a phone system in Louisiana Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu's New Orleans office. O'Keefe was fined $1,500, placed on probation and ordered to do community service.
