Prince George B.C.- Get out the snowshovels and the scarves, B.C. can expect a colder than normal winter says Environment Canadas Jim Steele. Speaking on the Meisner program this morning on CFISFM, Steele says it is all because of La Nina, the system developing in the Pacific.
He says with colder than normal temperatures, it is quite likely there will be more snow .With the colder than normal temperatures, much of what would have been rain, will likely be snowfall says Steele.
Steele says the jet stream will be dropping to the Washington state area and that means lots of cold air aloft. Already, Prince George has set a new record low for today. The old record was minus 3.9 set in 1971, and the temperature was in the minus 6 area this morning. Steele says the official mark wont be clear for an hour or so, but it is definitely a new record for today.
