Title: Gov. Christie Destroys Heckler! (Dems can't touch this guy)

http://hotair.com/archives/2010/09/23/obligatory-chris-christie-gets-in-hecklers-face-at-meg-whitman-rally/

Another two or three more viral hits like this, I figure, and he’ll be nominated next year whether he wants to be or not. After all, Ace is right: This guy is a living, breathing test of the theory that unapologetic fiscal conservatism can win anywhere, even in New Jersey. The better he does, the more emboldened weaker-willed Republicans will be to draw the line on spending in their own blue states. And maybe not just on spending.

Two clips here, one of the exchange with the heckler and the other of Christie laying the blame for Jersey’s pension crisis where it belongs. And two ironies to bear in mind as you watch. First, is a guy who’s become a grassroots sensation for his pugnaciousness really the best person to lecture on divisiveness? Maybe so; see Ace’s headline at the link up top for more on that. Second, most people are posting a 30-second clip of the heckler exchange but I’m giving you the full two-minute news story at RCP because it includes an interesting comment from the reporter at the end. Whitman had spoken earlier at the event about needing to show spine, but Christie deprived her of an opportunity to do that here by jumping in to deal with the heckler. He helped his own image but I’m not sure that he helped hers. Click the first image to watch.

He is a refreshingly blunt and honest person Unfortunately, people don't go for that. But things are different now. I wish the coward Boehner understood that.

Look, I'm a blunt honest speaker as well. Yes, some people do respect that, which is one of reason why I've done pretty well for myself. However, most people are offended by blatant facts, which is why I've made a fair amount of enemies along the way as well.

Cristie is my kind of guy because he just tells it like it is. This usually does not work in politics.

Insofar as Boehner is concerned, he is a dumb, sissy, pussy wimp. My guess is that the GOP "promise" is so lame and uninspiring because Boehner as GOP House leader couldn't stomach any kind of real commitment.

In the software business, the lame GOP document would be known as the "lowest common denominator" approach, which by definition means lame and uninspiring.

he just tells it like it is. This usually does not work in politics.

You are 100% correct on this. The Golden Rule of Successful Politics is "Tell the people what they want to hear.".

Or at least that is the party dogma. The reason for this is the party leaders want total control over policy and the politicians that come under the party labels. If politicians are allowed to get by with thinking independently,it weakens the cabals that run the party.

And the one thing they believe most of all is "You just can't have people out there running around loose and thinking for themselves. If they need to think,we will tell them what to think about and who to think about it."

"I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago." (Sarah Palin,Dec 2009) ************************************ DID Palin say or write these things or not? (Me) I don't know or F ing care. What I love is how the Democrats are apoplectic over Christie.

He is destroying them and they can't lay a finger on him.

The democrats have been winning elections for years by promoting class warfare - but the inevitable day of reckoning may be here. And events may not be unfolding quite the way they want.

While Dims may have ultimately failed at pitting races, genders and adherents of "alternate lifestyles" against one another - they HAVE succeeded in pitting the "haves" (those with gov't guaranteed incomes, pensions and golden retirement plans - i.e. teacher's unions) against the "have nots" (i.e. the rest of us.)

Christie was in the right place at the right time to capitalize on this anger, and hopefully he will serve as a model for other conservatives to grow a spine and follow suit.

Sadly, the only things that motivate most voters are so-called "pocket-book" issues. As Zero and his demwit pals crash what's left of the economy, pols like Christie can be the adults in the room to pick up the pieces.

They can (as he has done) figuratively "spank" the whining, crybaby public sector union members. It's a golden opportunity.

Hopefully he (and others) will take it.

And of course, not surprisingly, you'd be wrong.

The debt and pension liabilities are all thanks to another Christie...Todd Whitman. She cut taxes when the state could not afford to do so.

As if I would trust your observation of what an unsourced, unlinked to article states.

That said, Whitman nearly bankrupted the state...she did, for all intents and purposes, bankrupt the pension plan...so the fact that NJ had to get its house in order probably did result in an increase.

Mr Christie inherited state coffers that were almost bare. Plugging the deficit, he says, will put New Jersey “back on the road to fiscal sanity”. Certainly it needs some steadying. State spending jumped nearly 50% from 2002 to 2008.
