Seattle was named after Chief Seattle -- a tribal Indian Chief. Does this have anything to do with the modern city of Seattle in the USA? Nope.
Have you ever been to Mexico??? I have, many times. It's a country that is largely run by people who came from Spain. Look at pictures of their leaders -- Calderon, Fox, etc. They aren't natives. Sure, there are a lot of mixed people too, but the modern nation state of Mexico has little to nothing to do with its historical namesake. No different than Seattle.
