But you, Lib, have zero difficulty with Genocide of Muslims.

And can't quite make the leap for when the First jews were smart enough to flee the Holocaust/Genocide.

People called the U.S. Constitution is respecting the First Amendment's call for freedom of religion.

And freedom of speech. Why did you leave that part off.

They can practice their so called religion. No one is stoppping them.

Was the demwit maplethorp violating freedom of religion?

They can practice their religion. Others can practice their first amendment right to burn the Koran. No conflict.

Part of respecting the living, breathing representations of the American People called the U.S. Constitution is respecting the First Amendment's call for freedom of religion.

When a "religion" crosses the line and becomes oppressive, threatening, demanding, and intolerant itself, it has violated the social compact with the people.

As I've stated, your moral standing in this regard is BLINDED.

Moreover, the right as per the 1st Amendment to object in the manner in which it is proposed IS "constitutional." ISN'T IT?

There was George W. Bush, who announced he was embarking on a "Crusade" and was enjoined by then Prime Minister Tony Blair, now converted to Catholicism. There was the "Clash of Civilisations", nonsense. And US and UK soldiers taking in guns with Biblical quotes on the stocks - and distributing bibles in the relevant languages as they incursed - and worse - in to towns, villages, neighbourhoods in Afghanistan and Iraq... Recently a contributer to a Middle East-orientated website wrote: "I am a Muslim : Kill me & call it 'collateral damage’; imprison me & call it: 'security measure’; exile my people en masse & call it: 'A New Middle East’; steal my resources, invade my land, murder my wife & children, alter the leadership of my country & call it: 'democracy.’" He speaks for millions...

Ostensibly, we're fighting in Afghanistan to allow their citizens to form a government which would include rights, similar to ours and other democracies. Logically, that would include the right of free speech (read; burning a flag or a book, including the Koran). So for our government to throw all their power at the FL pastor for wanting to do what our military is in Afghanistan fighting for, is the height of irony.

Burn the POS.

The U.S. military did not want to offend their enemie, so they burnt our Holy Bible, a symbol of a tyrannical regime. Nazi Hitler had book burnings all across europe. This was standard affair. When they wanted to control a situation and demoralize their enemy, they burned books.

"They can practice their religion. Others can practice their first amendment right to burn the Koran. No conflict."

Actually, being sensitive as to how one's actions can jeopardize the health and welfare of troops abroad is something that we always have done and always will do.

These folks were in no way prohibited from doing the burning. But as I said, free speech works works because people are accountable for the ramifications of their speech.

If you yell fire in a crowded theater and people are hurt or killed in the stampede to the door, you would not be prosecuted for your exercise of free speech, you would be prosecuted for conduct endangering, hurting or killing people,

The burning was stopped by these folks not because they suddenly stopped believing what they say about Islam and the writings of it, they stopped because they thought about the ramifications of what they planned to do.

This was wise, I don't want out people over there hurt. And it is disingenuous to slam Jane Fonda as someone who endangered troops by going to North Vietnam and then allowing salesmen for Christianity to do the same in a country where importing the trappings of outer cultures to change what they do, what they believe and how they live is a hot button issue.

If the war there were not going on, this issue would of never generated the call to stop this book burning it did.

Loose lips sink ships. Inciting anger that jeopardizes lives of our servicemen and women in Afghanistan can kill and maim our people, and if you make their job harder and this makes the war longer and more difficult to accomplish the mission, it very much will kill or maim our folks there.

here is zero doubt of that being a fact.

The burning would be water on burning gasoline. It would not stop the destruction, it would spread and intensify the damage done in the fire.

If you want to struggle to check or reverse the spread of Islam, one sound be strategically sound in how one plans and executes ones tactics and operations to do so.

I see the burning as galvanizing people to Islam. It polarizes things and makes Christians look like self serving hypocrites when after that they come over talking of brotherhood and peace.

If you want to walk the walk, talk the talk. Let your actions speak and show your beliefs, or your words will be shunned and ridiculed.
