Hundreds of N.J. students who can't do simple math are credited with passing calculus, report says Published: Wednesday, September 01, 2010, 12:33 PM Updated: Wednesday, September 01, 2010, 12:42 PM Hundreds of N.J. students who can't do simple math were credited with passing calculus, according to a report on APP.com. According to a Department of Education report, "there were other students, unable ultimately to evidence even simple math skills, who were unimaginably recorded by their schools as succeeding in Algebra II or even Calculus." A report delivered at today's state Board of Education meeting will recommend four new policies to aid students who weren't proficient enough in reading, writing or math to meet state graduation standards. Education in today's America is nothing short of a crime. Most of the leaders of the NEA and teacher's unions, and their confederates in congress should be buried up to their neck in sand, have honey poured on them and have the red ants go at them. And of course, the Democrats never want to investigate these crimes against children, what passes for "education" these days, as they're beholden to the very people who are destroying our nation's children. Notice the complete lack of outrage on behalf of the left (aside from "WE NEED MORE MONEY!!!").

Well, there is a "good news/bad news" component here. The good news? The education establishment will soon probably be getting more money. But the bad news? The money won't be worth the paper it's printed on. But there's more GOOD news: The mis-educated products of the education establishment will - in their ignorance - make PERFECT slaves in the upcoming utopian STATE that Zero is creating.

I was told one of the Republican priorities back in 1994 was getting rid of the Dept of Ed. That should have been an easy one. Instead we got No Child Left Behind. The gullible think this 'new improved' congress will be different.

Given that since the establishment of the Dept. of Ed we've seen a dramatic decline in education standards and accomplishments in this nation, getting rid of it would be a good thing!

The teachers can't do the math either. 2/3rds of math and science teachers in the government monopoly schools are not qualified to be teaching math and science. Then we wonder why jobs are being shipped to China and India -- because we don't have to the qualified here. This is where the real revolution has to happen -- in the schools. It's not going to happen until we get rid of the hidebound unions who care more about their political power than our kids. That won't happen until we get rid of their Democrat protectors in the legislature.
They don't need any more money. Their are only two counties in the entire world that spend more per student than the U.S. We also spend more on education per capita than most developed countries. What we need is fundamental change in how the education system operates.
