The year of the draft that affected me I had a high lottery number, so I didn't go in the Army until Sep of 1976. I was suspended from high school for four days for going to the demonstration against the war on the New Haven CT green. We had a sit down strike in the school and the suspension was increased to 2 weeks and I got kicked off the National Honor Society. The two week period included finals week, and I played catch up my senior year in Eugene, OR. I studied the war and know quite a bit about it, and I am quite happy I didn't go. It was an illegal and immoral conflict we should of never gotten caught up in.

Actually, I said I was a CE on a slick in the 82nd Abn Div, and have talked about my experience doing so in forum many years. I was first in the 1/17th Abn (Air) Cav and transfered to 82nd Avn Bn and served in 2nd Flight Platoon. My slick was a Viet Vet, not me. Her tail number was 70-16450, and if she's still flying, she's been to Corpus Christi for rebuild and has the number of 00-16450. The 1/17th later became part of the 82nd Avn Brigade when they expanded it. It was just a battalion when I was there. I was never in Vietnam, and never claimed this. You flunk on reading comprehension.
