Title: Leaked White House Memo Advises Democrats on How to Spin Obamacare

Politico has released a piece that begins as follows: "Key White House allies are dramatically shifting their attempts to defend health care legislation, abandoning claims that it will reduce costs and deficit, and instead stressing a promise to 'improve it.'" This is a truly remarkable sentence. Legislation that the Congressional Budget Office says would cost about $2.5 trillion in its real first decade (2014 to 2023) wouldn't do the one thing that Americans most want out of health-care legislation: cut health care costs. It wouldn't, despite the administration's repeated claims to the contrary, cut deficits. But, on the bright side, it can (allegedly) be improved. That's an amazingly tepid claim to make on behalf of something with Obamacare's price tag.

The truth is that Obamacare cannot be improved. It can only be repealed. It was passed as "comprehensive legislation," and it must be repealed comprehensively.

The vast majority of Americans recognize this. Rasmussen's latest survey of likely voters shows Americans favoring repeal by the overwhelming tally of 60 to 36 percent. This 24-point margin is Rasmussen's 2nd-highest in the 21 polls it has conducted in the five months since passage, despite, as Politico puts it, "the White House's all-out communications effort" in the interim – much of it at taxpayer expense.

Spin. Notice that **NOTHING** is up-front and honest about the Democrats. Everything is "spun" and obfuscated.

SO you're "Okay" with the spin. No stand-up fight here. No "Be proud you voted for Obamacare." Try and spin it! Spinning it btw is just more obfuscation and misdirection.

Don't talk about Obamacare "saving money!". It won't. We now all know that is a lie. A big, fat, fucking lie.

I don't vote for republicans OR democrats for POTUS.

But republicans SUCK. They are the worst liars and spinners in Politics.

Oh puhleez. You shill for Obama 24/7 on this forum. You've voted for Obama in '08. You continually support just about ever action he takes.

Your credibility just took another hit War.

BUSTED.

War has no compunction about lying and mischaracterizations. It's like breathing. ALL liberals and Leftists justify their BS when it suits their agenda.

I think he believes that there is something inherently different about republicans. Some defect in their DNA, perhaps?

When George W. Bush and Sarah Palin are whom you've presented and are presenting as a solution to the problem, I'd say it's just plain mental retardation - at a functional level.

Nope. Neither is Bush or Palin. One is disqualified by the Constitution, the other by herself and the so called "intelligentsia".

Now that we've gotten your obfuscation out of the way, I'll repeat the question: is Alvin Greene a republican? (since you seem to be of the mindset that only republicans are terrible (i.e. suck))

Yep - guilty on that one. Lesser of two evils and all that. 2004 will be the last time that happens - if I can't vote FOR someone, the ballot will remain blank.
and, I suspect, would vote for Palin were she the nominee.
She won't be, so I'll never have the choice.

But - unlike you - I'm not waiting for a coming political messiah. I realize that all politicians have faults, say stupid things, and do stupid things like mis-spell potato and give a Howard Dean screech. I'm not going to let the statist media decide for me.

Bottom line: when candidates propose returning to a Constitutional gov't, I'll support them. When they don't, I won't.

Simple as that.

Chuckles...you sit there and lecture me - I haven't voted for a major party candidate for POTUS since 1988 and have voted for less than five major party candidates for national office over the same period - and you had a chance to pick a smart guy over a dumb one and you opted for dumb.

Remind me again why I should take you seriously?

Yes, they are.

But the point is, on just a relative basis they are on a knowledge plain light years ahead of Boy Blunder. The debates should have showed you that.

You voted for a fucking dunce.

Look - you're a statist, which is perfectly within your rights. If you want to argue the statism of a Gore or a Kerry as opposed to the statism of Bush, that's fine.

Go ahead and support whatever statist candidate floats your boat. (as long as he/she has a D after their name, that is.)

But don't try to sell me the bullshit that Kerry or Gore are Mensa candidates. Because they're not.

Arguing their "intelligence" against Bush's is like arguing the intelligence of Moe vs. Larry vs. Curly.

In the end, they're all stooges.

If they had any smarts or integrity, they'd be in another line of work.

Compared to Bush they were. Again, the debates clearly showed what a dunce Bush was next to those two. Kerry absolutely wiped the floor with Bush and it's why the race ended up as close as it did.

Gore...the press and Freepers were more interested in reporting HOW he spoke...his makeup...his off camera reactions than in anything he said. Meanwhile, when Bush babbled incoherently the press simply reportred he did "as expected". We expected a candidate to babble incoherently and he met thos expectations?!?

Compared to Bush they were.

Let's be generous and give both of us the benefit of the doubt. I want what's best for the country, as I assume you do, too. What is obvious is that my idea of "best for the country" differs substantially from yours.

We're likely never to agree on that.

What we MIGHT be able to agree on is that discussions like "who is the smarter candidate" miss the larger point. Because if I tend to agree with a candidate's stand on the issues that I care about, I'm likely to overlook his/her shortcomings. I suspect you do the same with candidates with whom you agree.

The larger point (to me) is this: Why, in a country of 300 million, are we reduced to selecting from such a shitty pool of candidates?

Bush was the BEST candidate to represent the "conservative" point of view??? Give me a freaking break - he's about as conservative as John McClown. Likewise, Kerry and Gore were flawed as well.

The system is broken and has been for quite a long time. sneakypete responded to a point I made about politics becoming a cult of personality (rather than a discussion of policies or issues).

Perhaps that is by design, and "we the people" should take it back and demand better.

How many, of those who are qualified, are willing to go through the political shredder? Endless fund raising, microscopic scrutiny, and death threats don't appeal to everyone.

If they ain't flawed enough on their own, the political process will manufacture fatal flaws to pin on them. Example: Obama is a Muslim.

Obama is a Muslim.

Obama is likely a muslim. He certainly isn't a christian.

He was born to muslim father. He went to muslim school. He celebrates muslim holidays and covers up christian symbols. He said the sweetest sound in the world is the muslim call to prayer. He said "his muslim faith" go George Step His vision for NASA is to promote muslims

Only the blind would say there is no evidence he is a muslim. This is just off the top of my head there is much more.
