The biggest summer for racial tension since 1994 continues, this time with a strange, n-word-laden rant from what has been typically perceived as a fairly innocuous source: Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Speaking to a black caller who called for advice on handling racial tensions with her white husband, Dr. Laura uses the offensive word eleven times and ultimately tells the caller that if she doesn't "have a sense of humor," she should not "marry out of your race."

Exactly. From your ittle rant, you make it sound as if it's a black problem. Bro... If you or I have spent any time living on this planet, we've been called something we don't like. And given a separate water fountain...and school...and hotels...and hospitals...and denied voting rights and so on along with being called something we didn't like. My worldview is man is NOT perfectible. He can be made better - he can create societies and in those societies he can address wrongs. But we will never achieve perfection on this Earth. Sorry. There are laws against murder, but murder will always happen. Likewise there are policies that have been put in place to address egregious wrongs - people not being able to vote, get medical help, etc. simply due to the color of their skin. These are good things, and I applaud them. But at some point, we have to say enough. Because - racism (like murder) is NEVER going to be completely extinguished. No matter how many laws are passed. Not as long as we remain human beings. At some point, the law of diminishing returns kicks in. Continuing this view that "we have NOT progressed past racism" and "more laws are needed" fits the bill.

The worst part isn't that she said nigger, it's that she is defending calling black people nigger to their face as if it isn't racist. Saying nigger shouldn't be forbidden, but referring to black people as nigger is disgusting, and a sign of a pathetic person. Jade's (the caller) husband is a coward.
Is referring to someone as a "nigger" worse than "mother-f*****"? How did referring to someone as "nigger" singularly become criteria as "Hate Speech" and the one word in the English language one can be ostracized and fired over (that is ONLY if the utterer is White)? Of course semantic wars and the lesser of "sticks & stones" is really just about the Power to define and thus criminalize or marginalize.
What would you have done? Yelled and screamed at Dr. Laura like a crazed banshee, demanded that she take "sensitivity training," or reported her to the "proper authorities"?
Legislating politeness and propriety is something the Left fantasizes over - but only on their terms. It's ALL a one-way street as far as they're concerned. Power is that way. So what has the Left done to "correct" what they deems as contemporary wrongs? They've established an un-constitutional socio-economic system where the citizenry ARE judged and hired by the color of their skin, their gender, and their ethnicity - it's called "Affirmative Action," and enforced by the mob in DC. It has nothing to do with "fairness," and everything to do with Power and un-fairness.
Somehow you believe 35 years of Affirmative Action and hiring bias based on the color of skin and ethnicity instead of qualifications isn't going to result in major blow-back at a time of economic Depression? I'll "confess" to being a Christian - so it is difficult for me to understand the mindset of agnostics or atheists. Many of them tend to be what society considers well-educated and intelligent. Yet they miss one of the most basic human traits that I - as someone whose wall is sorely lacking in framed degrees - have observed all my life. Blaise Pascal observed it when he wrote about a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man. Even if one questions or denies the existence of God, it does not seem intellectually honest to deny this one trait of human nature. Especially when we have seen it played out in culture after culture throughout human history. It's difficult for me, but I will attempt to argue from an agnostic point of view. I believe I can make the case that man NEEDS an external, larger than himself entity to be the arbiter of laws, rules and order in a society. Without arguing whether or not the Founders were Christians or even believers in God (some were, some weren't), they DID recognize the benefit of assigning the source of human rights to Him. Thus the term "endowed by their Creator" in the founding documents. Unfortunately for us here in 2010, the Constitution they created was NOT a supernatural document. It depended (and still depends) upon humans to enact and enforce it. So here we are, after 200 short years of human tinkering and outright corruption, with nothing more than what Bush described as a " . . . piece of paper." Whether agnostics and atheists of the statist variety wish to acknowledge it or not, the "glorious" humanistic utopia they wish to create will be given god- like powers. The laws of human nature are just as sure as the laws of physics or gravity. Where will they be then?
