The biggest summer for racial tension since 1994 continues, this time with a strange, n-word-laden rant from what has been typically perceived as a fairly innocuous source: Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Speaking to a black caller who called for advice on handling racial tensions with her white husband, Dr. Laura uses the offensive word eleven times and ultimately tells the caller that if she doesn't "have a sense of humor," she should not "marry out of your race."
And Lara Big Bush is a fucking idiot. He point was that she had no point. Race isn;t a hilarious issue. Just because some blacks say nigger with impunity it doesn't make it acceptable to the woman who called...Lara Big Bush assumed that the caller had no issue with this because the caller was black...a racist assumption on her part. It'sc called the Fallacy of Negation...because blacks use the word nigger it's acceptable.
And saying "You black people love [whatever]..." most CERTAINLy has racial and stereotypical overtones.
Words have no intrinsic power. They are only as powerful as we allow them to be.
And before you go off on a rant (no, I've never been called a {n-word], understand that we are never going to "get past" this racial bullshit until we quit GIVING these words power.
