Title: Congressman John Boehner On Meet The Press: Another "Leader" With No Straight Answers

This morning on Meet the Press, David Gregory interviewed House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH). As is the tradition of the show, the host bombarded the guest with tough questions. Equally as traditional, the guest avoided providing straight answers to the majority of them.

John Boehner is running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives again in 2010, only this time he is competing to become the next Speaker of the House. You would think someone in such a position would be primed with all the answers. You thought wrong.

As always, the subject of greatest contention revolved around the economy. That is certainly no wonder. The economy is easily the issue of greatest import in the upcoming elections.

Immediately, Gregory questioned Boehner on his position regarding the Bush tax cuts, which are set to expire at the close of the year. Boehner stated that the tax cuts should not be allowed to expire for any class of Americans, including those who make over $250,000 a year. President Obama plans to allow cuts for the wealthiest Americans to expire, but will keep them in place for the rest of the population.

Host Gregory responded to Boehner by admitting that many top economists agree with Obama. He then backed up his statement with a video clip of Alan Greenspan.

Following the video clip, Gregory asked Boehner why he disagreed. Boehner replied that it was dangerous to allow the tax cuts to expire in any form during these difficult economic times. The result could be a double-dip recession. When Gregory invited Boehner to explain how that process would occur, instead of answering intelligently the Congressmen dodged the question with platitudes.

Gregory did not let the matter rest. He told Boehner in other words that his generic response was not an answer to the question. At this, rather than being professional and attempting to explain his position, Boehner became visibly irritated.

The lesson here for Boehner and all other politicians is to not sit in the hot seat if you are not equipped with the knowledge to handle it. Apparently, the Congressman declined to answer the questions because he simply had no legitimate answers.

The lesson for America is to be careful who you cast your vote for. The quality of leadership has collapsed in this country. Pay close attention to the politicians who refuse to answer questions. It either means one of two things: they know you will not like their answer or they simply do not have one.

This is not a Democratic or Republican problem. It is a chronic American problem. It is time we start fixing it. Subscribe to *Elections 2010*

Unless of course the guest is a commie, pinko, leftist shill.

Boehner is a blithering idiot, just like Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell.

This is why I don't think that the GOP is going to take control of the House -- because their leadership isn't up to the task.

Sure, the the GOP is going to pick up a bunch of seats because the Obama administration is filled with unreconstructed socialist ideologues who've never run anything in their lives except their mouths.

Bush and the GOP caused the mess we have today. Obama and Democrats have made it worse.

Without a plan on how to fix the mess, the GOP is going to come up short.

He certainly was an embarrassment this morning on MTP.

If THAT is what the GOP hopes to control congress with, good luck with that.

Never swear "allegiance" to anything other than the 'right to change your mind'!

Just remember millions of imbeciles voted for Obama! Educating them is hopeless.

Educating them is hopeless.

No, the swing voters are in full retreat. We saw this in Virgina, New Jersey and Massachusetts. All polls show Obama in sorry shape. People are learning.

The problem is that there is nowhere to go. The GOP have nothing to offer. They screwed up the economy by acting like Democrats, spending money like crazy and running up the debt. Sure, the Democrats have made it worse. So what? They both stink.

Do you know the difference between a Democrat and Republican?

The Democrats tell you that if you elect them, they will grow the scope and size of government. When you elect them, this is exactly what they do.

On the other hand, the GOP is filled with LIARS who pretend they are for limited government, but when you elect them they act like Democrats.

F-THEM BOTH.

You can't say that about all R's or even all D's.

Look at it this way. The people who vote for the R's are by in large superior people to the freaks who vote for the D's.

You can't say that about all R's or even all D's.

There are a small handful of good Republicans. Jim DeMint comes to mind. What did former GOP Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott say about Jim DeMint and some of the new Tea Party people who might join him??? "We don't need a lot of Jim DeMint disciples. As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them".

The system is so corrupt that a few good individuals here and there won't make any difference at all.

I started voting in 1980. I waited 20 years for the GOP to run it all -- Presidency, House, and Senate. We got there in Jan, 2001. What did they do?

The first new entitlement since LBJ (Medicare prescription drugs); largest federal intrusion into the classroom in history (No Child Left Behind); largest pork barrel project ever; waste, fraud and abuse at record levels (according to the Heritage Foundation); a $1 trillion war with a country that never attacked us and wasn't a threat to us; the incompetent TSA; totalitarian legislation like the Patriot Act, on and on and on... they turned a balance budget into huge deficits, collapsed the economy, and finally handed out $700 billion to Wall Street financial firms who promptly used it to lavish bonuses on failed executives.

That's what happens when the GOP runs it all.

No thanks.

The entire system needs to be overthrown. We're going to do it through state nullification of federal laws. Real ID, in-state gun control, medical marijuana, Obamacare and more... We've nullified a bunch of corrupt federal laws already and more nullification is on the way.

The federal government will heed or we'll take it to the next level.

Very poor analogy. Here's a better one.

Bush and his GOP Congress were jogging towards a cliff in the dark. Obama and his Democrat Congress are sprinting towards that same cliff. The end result is exactly the same -- at some point, they are both going hit the edge and fall off.

Someone needs to turn around and go the way. The GOP have proven that they won't do it.
