Poster Comment: I can't copy the text for some reason,so you will have to go to the link. These are Square D circuit breakers. Or at least appear to be Square D,but aren't. They are made so cheaply that they won't kick out in case of a short,but melt and fuse together creating a house fire. Gee,I wonder where they were made? To: sneakypete (#0) When I had the house finaled the inspector took another quick look at the electrical as he earlier had recommended adding another circuit. He noticed the electrician had used a Square D instead of a GE. The final approval was actually postponed until the Square D was changed and we promised to never put another one in due to their unreliability. That was over 15 years ago and the nearest non Square D was 50 miles away. Working with data centers, this has been an on-going problem. Even vendors such as Graybar have been having problems getting legit suppliers of them. Have to be *very* careful about this stuff... If you're lucky, the worst that will happen is that your breaker trips open too often. If you're UNlucky, you could die in a fire, due to the breaker failing to *ever* open. To: sneakypete (#5) Ok,that makes sense. GE and Square D are NOT interchangeable. The instructions on the Square D then said it was interchangeable with the GE. Even though it was slightly smaller than the one it was supposed to replace, and actually fell out of it's slot, when the cover was opened. The electrician said it was the only brand he had on him at the time, and was hoping to get a GE replacement in before the final. We had all the power off so there was no chance of a fire.
