Ousted USDA employee Shirley Sherrod says she will sue conservative blogger over edited video Ousted Agriculture Department employee Shirley Sherrod said Thursday she will sue a conservative blogger who posted an edited video of her making racially tinged remarks last week. Sherrod made the announcement in San Diego at the National Association of Black Journalists annual convention. The edited video posted by Andrew Breitbart led Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to ask her to resign, a decision he reconsidered after seeing the entire video of her March speech to a local NAACP group. In the full speech, Sherrod spoke of racial reconciliation and lessons she learned after initially hesitating to help a white farmer save his home. Vilsack and President Barack Obama later called Sherrod to apologize for her hasty ouster. Vilsack has offered her a new job at the department, which she is still considering. Obama said Thursday morning on ABC's daytime talk show "The View" that the incident shows racial tensions still exist in America. "There are still inequalities out there. There's still discrimination out there," Obama said. "But we've made progress." Obama pinned much of the blame for the incident on a media culture that he said seeks out conflict and doesn't always get the facts right. But he added, "A lot of people overreacted, including people in my administration."

The shorter video that is currently posted on http://BigGovernment.com contains 'corrections' to the original video that was posted. The corrections center around the printed comments that preceed and follow the video, not the speech of Ms. Sherrod. Breitbart apparently felt the need to correct the record on the printed comments in the video, which is an acknowlegement of some level of repsonsibility for them.

The way I see it,he [Breitbart] may have fallen into a trap himself. Consider this: 1) The "impression" that Shirley Sherrod - an FDA authority - WAS "racist" was true. How many white farmers did she screw before finally "seeing the light"? 2) Yes, Breitbart stressed the "racist" part of Sherrod's teachable moment. 3) Sherrod was addressing the "non-profit" NAACP crowd - a crowd who had proven demonstratively to be "racist," an organization who slandered the Tea party as "racist." This is an overlooked irony and hypocrisy. 4) The NAACP was caught with their racist-pants down. Where is the outrage over their reaction to cheering and laughing at Sherrod's story of wanting to screw th white farmer? 5) The 0bama Administration fired Shirley Sherrod. Do you or anyone know what exactly that reason was? Why weren't the media asking THAT question? Again, the double-standard exposes the media as reptilian, and 0bama as a political dope whose media covers his every hypocritical move. 6) That Breitbart is the center of the sh*tstorm and scapegoat further enforced the collusion of the media and 0bama. 7) Breitbart was obviously willing to take the bullet from the liberal media, but probably didn't anticipate the feckless GOP hanging him out to dry. 8) The GOP failed to exploit 0bama's reactionary bad judgment in firing Sherrod on a whim.
