United States News Title: She doesn't fight like a conservative. She doesn't fight like a girl. She doesn't fight like a sissy. She doesn't fight on defense. She doesn't fight like a conservative. She fights like a man – on offense. And she fights to win Why Coulter's not a conservative My conservative friends don't understand when I distance myself from the label. They don't understand why I am so revolted when I am characterized as a "conservative." If you want to see me get steamed just call me a conservative, or call me "Joe." This is not to say I don't like conservatives. In fact, if Ann Coulter defined conservatism, I might rethink my revulsion. And I'll tell you why. I'll let you in on a little secret. I know Ann Coulter. And Ann Coulter is not really a conservative. Why do I say this? Am I privy to some shocking, private information I am about to disclose publicly? Do I think Ann Coulter is conning the American public? No, I say this because I have the utmost respect for the woman especially after reading her latest page-turner, "Godless." I am impressed with literary skill and even more impressed with the way she fights. She doesn't fight like a conservative. She doesn't fight like a girl. She doesn't fight like a sissy. She doesn't fight on defense. She doesn't fight like a conservative. She fights like a man on offense. And she fights to win. It's the only way to fight. If you don't fight to win, don't fight at all. That's my advice. And if you are only going to fight on defense, you might as well give up now and sue for peace. Conservatives most of them, besides Ann Coulter don't get this. They don't understand. They fight only when backed into a corner, and they fight only to defend, only to protect their turf never to win ground from the relentless enemy that never gives up. This is why conservatives are always losing even amid their occasional political and cultural victories. Because their wins are merely defensive victories successful efforts to hold off an enemy that will be back again and again, winning its war inch by inch. In "Godless," Coulter goes for the rhetorical jugular. She is on offense from the first word. She doesn't try to justify herself. She slices and dices the enemy. Give me five Ann Coulters and I could take over the world. Judging from book sales over the last week, her tactics are extremely well-received. Her new book debuted on the New York Times best-sellers list. Imagine how Pinch Sulzberger feels about that. He's probably writing a memo about now redefining the methodology for determining how a book makes the list. If only politicians would listen, watch and learn. There might still be hope for conservatism. But I don't believe there is. Coulter is exceptional in a lot of ways, but not the least of which is her reliance on offense, offense, offense. She doesn't defend, she attacks. I'm sure she has read Sun Tsu. You want to know how to take America back? Fight like Ann Coulter. Be ruthless because you know you are fighting evil. Fighting evil is a good thing, not a bad thing. You are saving lives when you fight evil to a standstill. You are improving lives when you defeat evil. You are making the world a better place when you expose evil. Do you want to understand what's wrong with conservatism? Ask yourself why there is only one Ann Coulter. Ask yourself why the Republican Party is not courting this woman to run for president in 2008. Ask yourself why conservatives are not learning from her example and fighting like men on offense.
