I’m hoping against hope that the leadership of the Republican Party isn’t sitting back, smugly waiting for the DeMarxists to self destruct. Actually, the Republicans have more experience at that than the DeMarxists ever have. Like many others, I’ve watched the Grand Old Party completely dismantle a virtual sure thing on more than one occasion. The last time they were in power was such a miserable example of total disregard for the oft-repeated warnings of dire consequences coming from their own base, that it’s actually painful to remember. It’s strongly reminiscent of the regime in Washington right now, marching ahead with blinders on, regardless of the will of the people or the dire warnings of its own DeMarxist commissars. The issue back then was the same as now. I hate to pile on poor old George Bush again, but with bullet-proof majorities he failed to stop the out-of-control spending of his Congress. It was clearly a leadership issue, and that leadership issue and the ramifications of that failure are with us today. One of the big hurdles the Republican leadership have to get over is just that… convincing the considerable numbers of Republican, Conservative and Independent voters who still, to this day, have an endemic distrust of what they judge to be ‘the same old failed GOP leadership’. The ones who continually support candidates that the grassroots will not support. The same ones who refuse to recognize that the power in the Republican party has shifted out of Washington, and now rests within the hands of the millions of members of the Conservative Patriot movement. Ignore us at your peril. And no, we’re not buying into the ‘third party trap’ that got Billary elected. Plainly speaking, third parties are for chumps and moon-gazing lightweights. There are some bright lights in the Republican lineup… Jim DeMint, Pete Sessions, Eric Cantor, Mike Pence, Kevin McCarthy and Paul Ryan. There are others as well. Let us not forget the ladies, principally Michele Bachmann, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and Sarah Palin, who is shaping up to be a powerhouse in her own right. Then there is Sharron Angle, who is giving Dingy Harry Reid nightmares. These Conservative ladies are tough and scrappy. The leadership should take notice. That’s what we are talking about! Paul Ryan, in conjunction with some of the other ‘young guns’, has introduced a Conservative road map for the country. The GOP leadership should give it serious consideration. Is it perfect? No. But have we seen anything better or more coherent come out of the Republican leadership? No. It’s sure as heck a great starting point. Speaking of starting… the Kagan nomination would be a great place to make a stand. Whether it’s successful or not, it would show the American people that at least someone in the leadership has some testicular fortitude… which has been sporadic. The Republicans have a long, tough row to hoe between now and November. Along the way, they’re going to have to convince us they can provide the Conservative leadership it’s going to take to turn around this disastrous Marxist march to mediocrity and economic slavery. Conservatives that are for real 'win'. Those that pretend to be Conservative occasionally win, but they require bland opponents (See Gore, Kerry v Bush for a prime example). When the pretend Conservatives face somebody with charisma they lose by a wide margin (See McCain v Obama for a prime example). Given the mood, a strong Conservative message from the GOP is the best way to win back the House, and make serious gains (7 seats) in the Senate. Its the only way to take back the Senate, although 'running the table' is exceedingly difficult.

Plainly speaking, third parties are for chumps and moon-gazing lightweights. Plainly speaking,what we need is a SECOND PARTY,not a Third Party. What we have now is a Dim Party with two branches. One hard-left and one 10% less hard-left. This problem has been created by all you "vote for the lesser of two evils because he is 10% less evil than the other guy!" party hacks. Guess what? If you keep voting for 10% less evil,your only options each election are for evil or 10% less evil. Guess where you end up when you keep doing this. Think maybe the people who control the political process might keep moving the goal posts to the left after every election? There are some bright lights in the Republican lineup… Jim DeMint, Pete Sessions, Eric Cantor, Mike Pence, Kevin McCarthy and Paul Ryan. There are others as well. Sometimes you just don't know if you should laugh or cry. Look at how far we have sunken in our quest for leadership when some of these loons are considered rising stars. AND......,how freaking nuts do YOU have to be to support some of these "End Times" loons for the highest office in the land?

A flag can represent an ideal as well as a piece of cloth. But you knew that, didn't you. Going back a few years - When Dellums was a congressperson from CA, it's doubtful he hung a VC flag in his office. But is there any question as to where his loyalties were?
If I could, I would. A few points about Ryan's plan: A.) his tax plan is not nearly as radical as the reforms that were being discussed by virtually everyone from Dick Army to Jerry Brown in the early 90s. B.) Ryan is proposing a "Business Consumption Tax", which is essentially a European-style Value Added Tax (VAT). I don't believe we need to follow in Europe's footsteps. Ryan's tax also applies to services, which will cause companies to favor hiring employees, instead of contractors, which will be bad for the computer systems integration business. C.) His healthcare reform plans are even more timid than his tax plans. They do not get to the heart of what's wrong with our healthcare system, namely that customers aren't the ones who pay the bills, so they have no incentive to shop wisely. We'd be much better off doing what Singapore did -- tell employers to stop buying health insurance for their employees and instead put the money in the employee's health savings account, which will turn the employee into a smart healthcare shopper. I have many more comments, but these are the big ones.
That's kind of a misstatement. Private health insurance is available in Singapore and those savings accounts are mandated by law. It's not an option. Everyone MUST be covered unless you can show vast personal wealth at which point your options also increase. Singapore's health providers HAVE to publish what everything costs...that includes basic wellness or preventive medicine to major surgery. The government also takes a very active role in preventive measures and it offers, as a public option, catastrophic illness insurance. BUT, one of the most important aspects of Singapore's system is that government helps to equip its facilities...
It's not a misstatement at all. I just didn't elaborate enough. I've been to Singapore 5 or 6 times. Here are the salient points of their system: A.) Everyone must save for healthcare B.) The government subsidizes the savings of people who don't make enough to s save for their health insurance. C.) You can use your savings to buy catastrophic health insurance, extended health coverage, and pay incidental medical bills. Any money left over is yours to save. YOU make the decision on how to spend YOUR healthcare dollars, not your employer or the government. D.) Providers have to publish prices and outcomes. E.) Yes, there are some government hospitals, but we've had government hospitals (county hospitals) well before the U.S. government screwed up our system up with Medicare and Medicaid. Even in Singapore's government hospitals, you pay for quality of service. A basic room (shared between 8 people) is cheap and a semi-private room is very expensive. They have no illusions of treating everyone equally like Obama and the European socialist do. You get what you pay for in Singapore. U.S. healthcare costs went from 6% of GDP in the 1960s to 17% today. Singapore's healthcare costs went from 6% of GPD in the 1960s to 3.7% today. They have a great system.
